long story short: my 3DS has suffered the crappy engineering build of the 3DS scratching itself from the bottom bevel to the top screen problem. I called Nintendo and I was treated to some classic OoT music and then a very nice woman gave me an RMA number to send it in. Can anyone tell me what their experience was like with them? i'm a little afraid because...

- I have used a flashcart on it.
- I have had a previous mishap with Nintendo when it came to fixing the (not hinge) but Shoulder button on my DS LITE was out. REFURBISHMENT HELL.
*first Lite unit replacement was always "touching" the top right hand corner of the screen. so therefore useless.
* Second lite the sound was fuzzy after a week use.
* Third lite replacement Was the worst. it FROZE when the start button was pushed. even when not in a game and in the DSL menu.
* 4TH and FINAL one. They finally gave me a new DSL.

the woman told me that was a VERY rare occurrence, and said that usually doesn't happen

what's not to say the same crap could happen again?....has anyone else sent their 3DS to Nintendo to fix this inexcusable problem?...how long did it take?...did you actually get your SAME 3DS back. or was it someone Else's refurbished shit. my RMA label expires in 30 days. it's been about 2-3 weeks since I got it.

Thanks :D

- I have used a flashcart on it.
They wont be able to tell, unless you send the flash card in with your 3DS :P
They have no reason to check the activity log, but if you are uncomfortable, just delete the history of the flashcart use in your activity log.
As for experience, I have sent mine in only once, and it came back to me fine. However ninty can be stupid sometimes and really overlook problems, so If you have any other issues with your 3DS that you need them to fix, stick a sticky note inside your 3DS so that the tech people actually READ what other issues you have.

I thought I was free of the marks too as my lines were just smudges that wiped off, but recently I've noticed scratches that do not rub off no matter how hard I try in the bottom left.
So really I'm just posting to see people's responses to this thread as I too may send mine in. Also, I hope OP doesn't mind me asking another question but:

If they give you a new 3DS is there any info from my old 3DS that will not be transferred?
Will my warranty be renewed from the date they send it back?
Would they put in another stylus if the 3DS I sent in didn't contain one? (It's always handy to have a spare :P) - Same thing goes for SD card.

I turned mine in like a week ago, I sent the console in naked (no stylus, no SD card, no nothing (double negative~). Nothing went wrong. I sent it, got it back, with a new top screen. The bottom screen even had the screen protector I installed intact. All my data was intact too.
It took about two days to get to my place, I live like 30 minutes away from their repair center. (The western half of the United States sends their repairs to Chatsworth, I believe)

Obviously they will do a transfer if they give you a new model, no way to tell if a flashcard was used. They can't accuse you anyway. I had my Cosmos Black 3Ds sent for the screen being scratched and dead pixels and was sent back a flame red one. I had no problem, they even contacted me and asked if I was fine with a different color. Still have all my data, save games, activity log (with R4i Gold history :ninja: ) and e-shop content. Dunno what they do or how they do it, but it works.

Hahahaha, that's a lie. If you use a 3DS, you need a screen protector if you want to avoid these scratches. I sent mine in, and nothing bad happened, although they did update my 3DS to the latest version.

She was talking about my god awful and horrible experience with the DS LITE

Ah, my mistake.

Anyway, when I sent in my 3DS, it took them... maybe a week at most to repair it and get it back to me good as new. They even repainted some scuffs away from the lid (though it rescuffed with little effort, but whatever). Sending in my 3DS XL over a seriously bad dead pixel, and I expect much of the same.

My L button stopped working on my 3DS last month. My 3DS was under warranty, so I removed my flashcarts and all other accessories (as requested), deleted the flash cart from the 3DS log (just to be safe), and sent it in. Not only did they fix the L button, but they replaced the scratched top screen and put thicker foam bumpers, which I didn't even ask them to do. I was given no trouble whatsoever with the process.

I hope that helps, and you have a similar experience. I know some people have been flat-out denied a replacement, but I think those are rare cases, and fighting with them a bit usually fixes things.
