Is this tablet a good investment or is it another of those clones that gets buggy the next day after purchase?

I have one. The battery is a big issue. It tends to make strange things when low (tablet resetting, startup looping, Android corrupting in rare cases).

Performance is less than stellar. Everything up to SNES works nicely (with frameskip 1). N64 is quite good too.

PSX works as crap because of the shameful 3D drivers that the device has got. The device has NO support at all, so you're stuck on Android 2.3.2, and don't ever ever expect updates. JXD is already making a new revision of it which will be released in the next months (with Android 4.0).

It's kinda slow for internet browsing, and the device tends to wake up from standby for a few seconds every now and then for no reason at all, leading to the battery not covering more than 2 days. Fruit Ninja tends to slow down on messy screens.

The left directional button on the DPAD is kinda stiff, but the Analog is okay.

Fire away if you got any more questions.

Does it has a Text editor just in case I want to write down a few notes from my classes?
Yes, any Android word editor will work on it, so you've got PLENTY of apps to choose from.

Touch-screen recognizion is pretty good, but when under charge it sometimes behave strangely. Looks like the S7100 is really sensitive when it comes to its battery :P

Anyway, I think that the latest pieces (produced after June) should've fixed the battery bug.

Do you download the apps from android store or somewhere else?

I need a cheap tablet myself. I am assuming its a tablet but specifically built for gaming?

Are there any of these kind of devices that are cheap but don't sound like a piece of crap?

Is it sturdy and I dont have to go gym to work out first before getting the touch screen to work?(yes, those chinese touch screen stuff are far from sensitive).
I dont have to cry out loud a few weeks after I buy it, do I? It wont die on me? lol

It's sensitive enough (and I'm one that hates resistive screen) so it's definitely acceptable. I haven't tried a high-tier Android tablet yet, but don't expect the iPad's grade of responsiveness, though.

Well, mine is still alive and well. You have to adapt yourself a bit with Android, custom ROMs (the original ROM it comes with is horrible) and which apps to install (also an alternative launcher, if you like)... but after that it's all good. The trick is to learn that when your tablet starts looping during the boot is to not panick, turn it off, let it charge a bit, and then turn it on again ;) (I have reflashed countless times before knowing that)

Well, the places I have found it in doesnt offer any Warranty.
Not gonna trust Chinese ebay sellers on the warranty part lol.
If they close their account and disappear, does paypal do anything about it?

I have had a few cases where the sellers simply close their accounts, so the warranty was useless...

Same with Paypal, if they do close down their accounts, I think. Well, there's nothing much you can do in that case. Better select a long-standing vendor (they're not gonna run away after all those years just when you buy something, right? ...right?) and hope for the best ;)

I bet its gonna be DOA bahahaha (of course gotta wait about 2 months for it to arrive first. another 2-3 months to get replacement after I send it back. By the time, the world is gonna end).

Got mine from the US, it came in 15 days. Then I had to pay 40€ more for customs. Sucks ass :(

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
