First off, I apoligize if I'm putting this in the wrong place. I wasn't entirely sure as I'm covering a few things. I also apologize if a lot of this has been asked before, but I can at least promise you that I'm a rather competent and nice guy ;)

So I'm wondering if I can do a few things...
1) Is it possible to play Pokemon Emerald on a GBA Emulator on a PC and then convert and transfer the save file to a GBA flash cart?
2) What is needed to be able to send captured Pokemon from an Emerald ROM to a legit copy of Pearl or Platinum?
3) If I want to use cheat codes to give myself the Old Sea Map and unlock the event to capture Mew, etc., what is the best method of doing that?

At my disposal is a DS Lite, EZ Flash 3 in 1, EZ Flash IV, and SuperCard SD. I also have actual copies of Pearl and Platinum as well as an R4 and M3i Zero if I end up needing those to do the GBA to DS transfer of captured Pokemon instead. I also have an R4i Save Dongle to move save files from DS flash carts to actual game carts (which has been quite handy).

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I used to know more about this stuff but it's been too long. Thanks in advance!!

2. I think you can load emerald on ezflash so it doesn't need a flashcart then put your legit peral in the ds slot and switch (is that right)
3. Load a cheat database on your flashcart try looking around on filetrip

Hey, thanks for the response, tom. I'm not so sure #2 is that straightforward though. If I remember correctly, there was something special that had to be done with the Emerald save file to ensure that the DS game could access and read the save file from the GBA slot correctly.

Anybody know about #1?

From what I've read, there's still no available patch that fixes/correctly patches the RTC on emerald. At least one person's tried to do it and ended up with a crashing ROM.
GBATA Fixes Ruby/Sapphire no problem, but Emerald hasn't been fixed and can't be fixed by GBATA. FR/LG don't have a battery so I'm pretty sure they don't have an RTC, but will still need to be patched with GBATA because they save to Flash.

As for getting a pokemon 3rd gen game to be recognized for pal parking, there's only one option available (well 2 if you count the original cartridge... but I'm not).
It's called Pokepatch. It's on filetrip, but there's a later version around somewhere I think... I'm not sure if it works on every flashcart, but I think it was (initially) for the 3 in 1, so you might want to try that first.

Hmm... yeah, seems they were unable to get it to create a save file. I may just tinker around with it though and see if I have any luck. It's not entirely necessary, but it would be nice to replay it on PC and then send it to a flash cart or the 3 in 1 to transfer to the DS games.

@BerserkLeon - Aha! Pokepatch. That definitely sounds familiar. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. You guys rock!

1. I don't think so.
2. I think you might have to use DesMuMe's GBA Slot function, and then transfer a sav over somehow. I'm not good with these kinds of things.
3. Gameshark much?

I'm really glad someone who's not good with these things is answering my questions then. *nudge* ;)

I kid, I kid. Thanks for the input. As far as gamesharking goes - no, actually. I generally avoid it, but they never did release the Old Sea Chart for U.S. gamers so hacking it is. Personally, I don't care for all the cloning and sharking for perfect IV's, shinies, etc., but I can understand lesser offenses such as this. I'd rather catch my own to complete my B&W pokedex than trade for who knows what on the GTS. Anyway, the gray areas of gaming ethics aside, I should be all set.

So, I wanted to do a follow up post in case anyone else came along with similar questions and wanted to know how it all worked out (which is often left out of these types of topics):

1. The EZ Flash IV and Visual Boy Advance work together with the Pokemon Emerald ROM's save file flawlessly without any need for conversion. I was able to start a game on VBA, then place the created save file directly in my EZF4 and continue from there and vice versa. This also serves as an excellent work around for the lack of a RTC in the EZF4. Just use VBA for the Shoal Cave and other minor things that RTC is used for.
2. Pokepatch works great, but there's also another way. Just trade with a legit cart (I used an old copy of Ruby since I sold off Emerald years ago) and use that to transfer to Gen IV via a DS Lite.
3. The cheat function in VBA appears to be the best way to unlock events, etc.

Cheers!
