Hardware What color XL did you get and your thoughts?

There are a ton of XL threads, and a lot of those are asking questions for help, so let's just have a chat about the console itself.

Today I bought the Blue XL, and $60.00 worth of cards to buy Super Mario Bros. What do you guys think of the console so far and what color did you get? To me, I love the Matte finish it has so it already alone beats the original 3DS. The home buttons feel nicer too, and the D-Pad.

The only downside though is, it came pre-installed with Swapnote, which I hate, so I gotta get rid of that. Anyways, what are you guys thoughts?

(I will probably not say more, though. I don't have one ... yet? ... but it would be an XL if / when I get around to it.)

EDIT : I was actually about to vote " Hellz Yeah, exactly what the 3DS should have been in the first place" but then I realized I couldn't vote without an answer for the first question. (which lead me to question if anyone who answers the second option for that question would be able to answer the first question either.)

I'd say I would choose a red one if I were to buy one ... would that count?

i got the red XL i find that its a huge improvement in every way except the speakers are weaker than the normal 3ds but thats ok for me cause i always play with speakers plugged into my 3ds. Also TC why you no like swapnote its fun to mess around with.

Because I have no use for it? Lol. I thought it would be like a messaging system like inbox and shit, but I got spammed by everybody with stupid drawings and stuff, and even the letters from Nintendo were pointless.

Bought the red/black XL. I really love this machine. The internet was not kidding when they told me the screens were MASSIVE! I was expecting bigger screens but when I opened my XL I reacted with a Bill & Ted "whoooooaa" Hinge is sturdy and so seems the rest of the unit and buttons themselves. D-pad is a lot more comfortable and natural to use compared to the original's. 3D effect looks exactly the same to me but better. Ghosting is reduced significantly but it's still there a little bit. Painfully still obvious playing the Resident Evil Revelations demo which is a shame. The terrible speakers are the only downgrade seeing as they're lower in volume and quality than the original's. But portable speakers are truly crap anyway and I will be using my headphones so that's forgivable.

So I think the 3DS XL is well worth it and I don't regret my purchase. It really is perfect except for the speakers but that's not a big issue here. I've got my old 3DS packed away in it's box ready to be sold to my friend and I will never go back to the original after my experience with the XL. I've also played New Super Mario Bros. 2 on my 3DS XL and I think it looks better, not sure why. Game does look super small on the original 3DS screen but maybe that's why it was more impressive than when I played on the original. Still weird cause most games will look better on the old 3DS due to the screen's higher DPI.

I bought the White. It's super sexy, but if you get a low quality case the FIBRES and STAINS are extremely annoying.

I'd have went for Blue, but that is not available as a Japanese color.

I went for the blue one first impressions amazing device played the resident evil demo game looks awesome I really got into it.Well should have my dstwo soon untill then a few demos shall do.I have a 32gb card in the side sd slot and a 32gb card ready for my dstwo fully loaded it seems it's ok at playing videos as well.Would be nice to be able to buy a replacment battery as its very easy to remove battery cover two screws.I am very happy with my purchase because I got it at a bargain price as well £131 GBP.

I went with the blue. Would have preferred the white, but it is still pretty . I prefer this one way more than the old. The sound is low but it beats the crackling speakers my old one had. System transfer took somewhere around 30 minutes. And i couldn't believe it required an internet connection which or GameStop no longer has. I have the guy an extra 140$ to hold on to while i ran to McDonalds and used their wifi while i ate. So with my trade in and 150$ gift card i won out of a vending machine i paid nothing. I don't notice any distortion in image going from the smaller screen to the larger. This thing just rocks. The ONLY problem i foresee is the sd card flap may possibly break. Other than that i have zero complaints. Oh also the home screen is kind of an off white... I'll get use to it

I got a red one this morning. I'm loving it so far. I wish I had got an XL first, the bigger screen making a huge difference with my ghosting issue!

Mine does have an issue though. Part of the bottom screen has a section considerably brighter then the rest. When the screen is dark and colorful and what not it isn't noticeable, but on white screens, it's quite annoying.

I was disapointed when they didn't have screen protectors! I panicked and bought a dsixl screen protector thinking it would work but it doesnt. Ended up scratching my bottom screen peeling it off. Im currently using tablet screen protectors, until I can buy an official one.

But I'm loving it so far. Now I can double my puzzles and save mii ;D

Also, I've found I have big pockets. My XL fits actually rather loosely in my pocket, and is hidden well enough.

The hinge could be a bit more sturdy but it's just feel more loose since it's heavier.
Other than that when playing using one hand and pen, when all weight is on one hand you can feel that the below plastic shell is a bit "press able", Try turn your 3DS upside down and put your thumbs in the middle and press a little.
