Today at GamesCom Sony announced that Vita owners can finally start playing PSX games from August 28th. Nothing else was said but then nothing else needs to be said at all.

boo sony sux.

But in all honesty I never really cared about this since it was announced. I have a PSX to play PSX games, a PS2 to play PSX games, and a PSP to play them. I've had and will have plenty of opportunities to play them, really don't need it on the Vita personally. Plus I never purchased any PSX games from the store anyway so I'm not really missing anything.

Well God damn. Right when the summer ends, bravo.. So I'll be studying abroad in Korea by then. Any chance I can still connect to the US PSN servers to update and download my previous purchases?

Yup. In fact if you're using a PS Vita that was setup in the US with a US account it can *only* connect to the US servers. You have to reset the Vita to factory, and associate it with a different region, and then reformat your memory card (or have a separate one) to pair with that account in order to change the region. IIRC you have to backup the content, between the resets, as well even if you're using 2 memory cards if you're going to switch between them because part of the data is stored on the Vita and lost on the reset.

Yeah, I C wat u sayin', but how about if they did some upgrading? I KNOW that would be cool. If only they cared about us, the end users, more than they did about money and time. This would be one hell a worthwhile buy, if they did it and pulled it off. Was there any upgrades announced for playing 10 year old games on the Vita, anyone know?

What do you mean "upgrades"?

This is a fine addition to the system. It might be a bit unnecessary, but I'd rather have a slightly redundant feature over nothing at all.

Only 1 problem, there is a small chance you may need to repurchase those PS1 classics, this is Sony we are talking about and no information was posted on this, so keep yourselves current on information for futher confirmation.

Um, that makes no sense. PSX purchases carry across the PSP and PS3 (right?), so why not here? PSP purchases carry over as well from the PSP to the Vita (provided they were digital), so what's the complaint?

It lacks information on the topic of cross buy and such. This is what's the cause of my uncertainity and Sony has been making quite a few bad choices this past year and a half.

Where's the PS2 emulation?

The PS3 is barely capable of emulating some very specific and very specifically tweaked PS2 titles without using PS2 hardware. You need a mid-high range computer by today's standards to emulate a PS2 on a PC. The Vita isn't going to come anywhere near emulating the PS2 ever.
