And if they do, is there a way to "sharpen" them?

it's quite hard for me to exclude that tiny country in gaming discussion.
they also contribute almost half of income gaming console industry for the rest of the world.

This makes me confused. Give me an example of a game dulling a person's senses?
less sensitive, ignorant, and most of time using excesive words maybe.
and probably get FAT.

well that's the most stereotypes out there.

i've never seen someone like that.
Ok well I mean if you were socializing. And you couldn't hold a conversation to save your life.
well, if the person isn't socializing at all. it would really dull his socializing skills.

Physical senses/reaction times/spacial awareness http://www.reghardware.com/2010/09/14/video_games_speed_decision_making/ and http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/14/action_games_make_you_a_finer_human_being/ says no.

Social ability..... I dare say my argument would be can't polish a turd but you can make sure it does not stink up everything for everyone if you make some effort (rephrasing of perhaps violent people are drawn to violent games). This said I do not participate in online games and will drag myself and a bottle of wild turkey to friends* for multiplayer games on a fairly regular basis so samples being biased and all that.

*games might be suspect but spawning and being in a properly properly committed relationship does seem to reduce time available for socialising.

Videogames aren't linked in any way to negative social behavior. They don't make you less social in the least.

Stereotypes are hilarious, but you'd have to be pretty retarded to actually believe most of them. Especially when it comes to stereotypes about gamers from the 90s.
Its been a while folks, shit has changed.

Well now I know that fast paced action video games don't dull reaction times or accuracy. Thanks guys, very useful posts. Seriously.

I would like to point out your source also has the following articles:

Most gamers fat and miserable, finds study

http://www.reghardwa..._gaming_report/

Gamers love in-game ads, ad industry-sponsored survey reveals

http://www.reghardwa...e_ads_research/

Video games linked to ADD? Say it ain't ooh butterfly

http://www.theregist...attention_test/

That last article would be a 'yes' towards OP's statement but the more I read through that site(s) [Same logo, I'm assuming they're linked], the more firm I am in my opinion that its editors and content are absolute shit.

EDIT: Grammar

I play video games like 5 out of 7 days a week for like 3 or 4 hours, I'm not fat I'm actually underweight! My sense aren't dull and my counsellor said that it sometimes can work as stress relief for me.

This thread is pointless. If you've ever played Call of Duty you know that you need to have pretty damn good reflexes to get a positive KDR, and you need to use your brain to play other games too. Kinect, Wii Fit, Playstation move are now used in old peoples homes and schools to get the old people moving and keep the kids fit.

that's also reasons I don't really like games which required to do lot's of body activity
but thread is not pointless

it just there are so many kind of games & style to play.
also what kind of sense?

Common sense? moving sense? reflection sense? Spider sense?

I don't know what video games may have done for my already shit eyesight (so much Pokemon in the dark when I was a kid), but I'd say they actually sharpened up my hearing from listening so closely on online shooters like Call of Duty for people near me (lol sound whoring). My hearing is definitely more reliable, though, the sensitivity to lighter sounds has faded as I've pretty much stopped playing FPS's completely. So, I mean, it probably depends on how you game, but I can't really see more than hearing and sight being affected, if any senses are going to take a hit.

Edit: Also, why are people talking senses, then bring up weight? Weight isn't a sense. When most people refer to senses, they mean the five basics:
Hearing
Seeing
Touch
Smell
Taste

Gaming likely won't affect the last three on that list, which leaves what it may do to the first two. What it may do to the first two is entirely dependent on how, where, and when you game. There's no clear cut response.

This is useful to know. Real. Useful. In fact, I need to start playing action video games more. When I started shifting to RPG games, I felt like i changed. I mean, too much gaming is horrible, whether or not it helps. But i guess to pass time during my day, i could go play some FPS games on my PC. Not a fan of call of duty at all(even though that gets mentioned a lot). Thanks everyone. I wish i could talk more, but it's 4AM in the morning. Classic case id like to call the unwillingness to go the fuck to sleep :/ I wanna call it insomnia, but that's a sleep disorder. Lol.

Thesolcity yeah they are linked- I will note though that the site is quite sarcastic/inclined towards taking the piss which is about the only way I can take my tech news, indeed your second quote of a headline would be a great example of that. Both my original links were from actual universities/institutes doing research published in a peer reviewed journal though although I do have to admit I screwed up and effectively linked the same thing twice so will have to find some more sources.
If I can go again

These aren't exactly studies, but they link to studies and are relevant.

If you do anything to the exclusion of everything else it'll have a negative effect....solely read, compulsively watch TV, obsessively exercise, determinedly study....anything that takes up all your interest and experience will have a negative effect. You can prove any point you want to prove with a small enough, specially selected sample group...the issue is that sometimes kids who play videogames don't have much else in their lives.

getting on topic now. i havent seen anyone having their senses dulled. they could be if you use them exsesively. like hearing, it could be dulled if you are using turtle beaches on the highest volume for prolonged time. but that is not by playing videogames, its because of getting exposed to high decibels on a prolonged time. and sight could be affected, but again, not because of videogames,
