So I was watching a Rhythm Heaven trailer on YouTube until I saw this comment.

MrJason005: yeah i am downloading this for my R4.

WTF!? Out in he open? I responded with this.

Me: Why are you saying that out loud? You just said your a pirate.

Then there's this lame excuse:

Me: It's still illegal to download ROMs off the internet even if you own the game.

Me: It is. Go on GBAtemp, ask about it, get ready to get flamed. It's illegal because of copyrights. You'll get your ass sued. And where did you get you source about that not being illegal.

Then this guy out of nowhere showed up.

MileSwifter: noob, if you already own the game in real life. its not illegal. since you purchased it all the game contents. the ROM file you can get on the internet serves as a backup. it's ILLEGAL if you didn't purchase the game and you get it for free.. it's called stealing...

Me: What's with all these misconceptions here!? First, purchasing a game does not give you all the rights of it. It gives you a license to be able to use it. You know, that terms and conditions no one ever reads. So doing unauthorized acts such as that is still illegal. But dumping the cartridge to your PC for use on a flashcard isn't, as long as you don't share it. And your the n00b, you didn't even get enough research done.

So yeah, I sort of need help on this.

TECHNICALLY, if you've paid for it you are free to download a copy of it, because you're not damaging the industry by stealing from the companies who make games. This applies as well with CDs and DVDs.

But yeah, don't cry over it. It's their decision, not yours.
