Eagerly awaiting the upcoming Jet Set Radio HD re-release? It seems like a bunch of students at Arcane Kids are too, if they're new cell-shaded skater Zineth is any indication.

The trailer (available above) shows off some of the gameplay and awesome cell-shaded pop art stylings of the game. If that's not good enough, here's the icing on the cake: it's free. You can download the game and its soundtrack for free from the Arcane Kids website (link below) and give the game a try yourself.

It's available for PC and Mac. The game was designed with Xbox 360 controller compatibility in mind so if you have one, its suggested you give it a got. However, standard mouse and keyboard controls also work fine.

It's a bit difficult to master, but the game is fun, free, and a great piece of indie gaming.

Gave the game a whirl and it's actually a lot of fun. It's a bit finicky but the art and gameplay are fun.

But it is rather gloriously cool looking.

"Looks quirky and chimes with my C64 but better looking sensibilities- I will give it a go". It played OK with a mouse but +1 to it being a 360 controller thing as it got a lot better when I bothered to fish out the wired 360 controller (I have seen full on commercial projects hose up controls and these guys get them almost spot on for a high and low speed 3d movement game....).

One hour later.... this could take a while. Play is pretty fun even if I mostly sandboxed it up, the minigames are amusing, the aesthetics were nice, I did not care for the world outlook (zines and such) when Jet set radio did it but that is pure personal preference, the tutorial was pretty solid, I ran through a lot of the world and it was pretty good and some of the mechanics (wall jumping and some instances of rewind) would break the game but they made the "tech demo*" far better and made my sandbox hour even better.

*better term required I think.

Thanks Guild and I dare say arcanekids will be someone to watch in the future.
