Onlive recently announced on their facebook page that you can get the indie title "Zeno Clash" for absolutely free by entering in a promo code during purchase. The deal is Onlive is giving away free indie games for 3 weeks and this weeks just so happens to be Zeno Clash. Not only that but if the facebook post which mentions this deal receives 1,000 shares by next week they'll post another code not only unlocking one indie title but two. Onlive has done something like this in the past where if they reached 62k likes in just four days they'd give the fans a code to buy any of their titles for $1 and had no problem reaching their goal (source).

This is great for anyone wanting to try out Onlive. I'd go into details about what Onlive is but basically its a game service that steams games to your computer. You try out a crap ton of 30 minute demos for free if you want and enjoy watching other players play games as well all in real time. I know some of you are going to complain "This isn't news" or "User submitted news isn't for posting every deal that comes along" but one of the definitions of news is "previously unknown information" so if you didn't know about it then its news and I thought I'd post this because the games FREE. Still I just know someones gonna complain :|

Announcing the first of three Indie Free Game Weekends! Reward yourself for lessons learned at the Summer Gaming Academy with FREE PlayPasses to incredible indie games.

This weekend only: Use game code NDFREEUS - for US, NDFREEUK – For UK, NDFREEBE – For Belgium to get the critically acclaimed indie favorite Zeno Clash completely FREE! (Redemption details can be found on our blog: http://blog.onlive.c...ekend-giveaways).

The Challenge: If we reach 1,000 shares of this post and next week we’ll unlock TWO free games instead of one!! Just click the share link below!

Zeno Clash is an action/fighting game set in a punk fantasy world. The game is played from a first person perspective and the combat is generally up close and brutal.

Experience a deep storyline set in a fantastic world. Play the role of Ghat, a man banished by his own brothers and forced to begin a desperate journey past the forbidden desert and to the end of the world.

Nominated in 'Excellence in Visual Art' at the Independent Games Festival, the original visuals, which make full use of the Source engine features, breathe new air in the fantasy game genre. The new close combat mechanics are also a deviation from traditional action in the first-person genre that will feel fresh for new and veteran players.

More details were posted on their blog post which is linked right there in the facebook message but basically all you gotta do is:

Select “Marketplace”
Select Zeno Clash (it is a featured game)
Select “Get Game”
Select “Full PlayPass” and click “Next”
Enter in Promo Code (from step #1), apply it, select “Purchase”
Start Playing! (Your game will be in your “My Games” tab for now on)

Apparently you DON'T need a credit card to get this game for free. (Thanks RobertLeoDavis)

Thanks man, Already have Zeno Clash on steam but good to have the onlive version for my netbook. I would have missed this otherwise. It looks like they are giving away a game each day until Sunday, sweet.

Actually it's a free game each week for three weeks unless you heard something different? I wouldn't mind getting even more free games :P Here's what the blog post says:
Introducing the first of three Indie Weekend Giveaways—your chance to get free indie games on OnLive!!
Week 1 features the punk fantasy combat FPS Zeno Clash. Drop by our Facebook page to collect your game code. Redeem it by Sunday, August 12th at 11:59 PDT and the game is yours to keep! Help us reach our goal of 1000 shares and we’ll unlock not one, but TWO free indie games next weekend.

I've been a reader for some time, but I just wanted to register to let you guys know that a credit card is not needed. I don't have one on file and I just got the game with no problems.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by that. In the past, a credit card was required to make any kind of purchase, even if you had a voucher like the one included with early Humble Indie Bundles. I'm glad they don't require it anymore.

Really? did you use the site or the program? when I first heard about this I loaded up Onlive(program of course) and when I tried to click on next it said I didn't have a valid credit card registered :|
I think it might have had something to do with the fact I had a credit card registered before and the code expired so maybe it checked and was telling me its not valid? either way I had to re-register my credit card.

I'll change the post though.

Same here, when I first used it I needed a credit card. But now, I just loaded up the program, used the coupon and it let me "buy" it without adding a credit card. The Humble Indie Bundle vouchers (for Braid, Trine and I think World of Goo) still work as well, without the need of a credit card.

I still don't have much interest in OnLive, but hey, I'll give them credit for trying.
Granted, it's not for everyone. I used to be a regular on OnLive, have games like Deus Ex, Borderlands, AC2, Batman, but those games are unplayable these days for me. For some reason, I keep getting Network problems 10 minutes after logging on.

I think the future came soon enough. This platform will only shine when everyone has fibre broadband, which might or might not happen in the foreseeable future.

For those of you not wanting to play this game with Keyboard/Mouse, are using the PC/Mac client and have a 360 controller with a controller translation app, here is my setup...

LT - Right Mouse Button
RT - Left Mouse Button

LB -Space bar
RB - R

Left Stick W,S,A,D
Left Stick Pressed Shift

D-Pad - "NOT USED but if you want you can map it to WSAD or keep it blank for navigation of the OnLive menu"

A - ENTER
B - "CURRENTLY NOT USED"
X - E
Y - C

Right Stick - Mouse Directions
Right Stick Pressed - EDIT: Also map this button to the left mouse button (FOR SHOOTING ONLY)

Start - ESC

Back - "CURRENTLY NOT USED"

Also I use Joy2Key. It's a free app. I don't mind sharing my setup files but only if it doesn't break any forum rules. IMO, this game could use some motion controls. If anyone have any suggestions on a Wii Remote/Nunchuck to Keyboard/Mouse app I could use to make a new setup, please feel free to give details below.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show.
