According to your other posts, you and your buddies are "working on some JB's" that you aren't gonna share. Thought rooting a THC would be a piece of piss for you? Can't you use Gingerbreak for Froyo?

Check this link:
http://androidforums...ber-2011-a.html

That guide will help you with the whole process (s-off/root/superuser and so on)

After you have completed that guide and your phone is rooted and s-off.
Make sure you get a better recovery tool than amonra/clockworkmod:

Follow this guide to get the much better recovery tool:

Stuff like Gingerbreak doesn't work for HTCs, they have extra protections (S-ON) to prevent "simple" rooting methods. You generally need to unlock the bootloader (and sometime get S-OFF) before you can root.

It was a while ago, but I used Gingerbreak on my wife's HTC and it ran through normally from stock. Like I said, it was a while ago and as soon as I saw 2.2.2 I thought of Gingerbreak.

They haven't always had S-ON on their phones, but the last couple of years I think they have. It makes them a bit less convenient to root.
