Five players
Allow five players to team up in FIFA 13's co-op mode. One player will manage the team using the Wii U GamePad, while four others take charge of the main on-screen action.

Instant messaging/invites
GamePad can also be used to instant message Wii U friends and invite them into your game.

Controller can be used as a window into the game
Controller can be used as a second display during set pieces & penalities, letting you to examine environment from all angles when held up to the main screen.

Touchscreen tackling/passing
Switch between defenders by tapping on him on the Wii U GamePad's touchscreen. You can then tap on the attacking player, either to man mark him or tackle. You can also pass using the touchscreen. Team Management Control optionoffers a radar with which players can launch attacking or defensive runs, with touchscreen controls available for changing tactics, formations and substitutions.

Touchscreen shooting
You are able to choose exactly where you want to aim the ball thanks to Touchscreen shooting. Pressing L3 (clicking the left analogue stick) brings up an image of the goal on the screen and then you simply tap on the position you want to place your shot on the goal.

New Free Kick and Penalty System
For a free kick, you can lift up your GamePad and look through the screen to aim the ball, before putting curve on the ball and shooting seeing it from the free kick taker's perspective. You can move the GamePad around to see where players are.

Manage the Match on the GamePad
Analyse the match by looking at the match stats on the GamePad and also adjust tactics on the screen when playing as the manager
Half-time team talks are also possible to motivate key players.

Improved Visuals
"It's on a par with 360 and PS3 and we were even able to make some key graphical improvements," said Prior. "We focused on areas that would have the most impact on the game."

This is actually looking pretty damn good. One of the best uses of the Wii U controller that I've seen.

I hope they spend more effort on the Wii U FIFA's than the Wii/DS/3DS ones. PES was so good on the Wii, I hope Konami keep the point controls for Wii U.

wow the new gameplay elements look potentially amazing. and they say the wii u is boring.
There are no new gameplay elements besides the

thing. Which is a pretty useful feature on corners but I don't see how that could help on free kicks and penalties.

*Insert joke about Vita having no games here*
This is pretty much the Vita version of FIFA 12 game on Wii U.

Er,yes it is. If you didn't realize all these things are capable in every other version of the game.
The touch-screen passing and shooting isn't in the other versions (well maybe Vita). Most of this is obviously in the other versions but I'm referring to how it's more streamlined on the system vs. navigating through menus.

Tactics adjustments are so simple in the game.Just hit the D-Pad on the console versions.Doesn't need to be more streamlined.
Touchscreen passing and shooting is worthless and is in the Vita version which is what we were mainly comparing.
The only thing that is actually worth changing is the Build up play adjustments but doing that while playing seems hard.

Touchscreen passing certainly isn't useless although I would think touchscreen shooting would make it too easy.

I played Fifa 12 on the PC and having the ability to adjust tactics while playing on the controller will be better than navigating through a clunky menu.

And since we're comparing it to the Vita version, there is no always-on manager central on the screen.
