So I sent in my 3DS system to Nintendo for warranty because my L-button wasn't functioning properly. The next two days, they received it. Then the next day, they emailed me that my warranty was declined because they found "damages beyond normal wear and tear."
Now, I have no idea what the heck they are talking about. The only thing that is broken is the L-button, and that should be a manufacturer's defect. Even so, my warranty was declined over something I am totally oblivious to. Heck, I even heard people got their systems replaced because their screens were being scratched by the bottom screen, and yet they declined my broken L-button 3DS.
I have never spilled any type of liquids on it. I did use a Nyko+ battery extension before for it, but THAT can't possible make "damages beyond normal wear and tear", could it?
Overall, the decline of the warranty towards my 3DS seems ridiculous to me. I plan to just disassemble the system myself and fix it, but I wanted to extend my warranty and get the system fixed at the same time. Now I can't even do that. :hateit:

That's a bit harsh having the warranty declined, obviously they have found something to reach that decision, as far as your rights as a consumer...i dunno

I didn't even bother trying to explain. I assumed they would just say the same thing to me, so I thought screw it, just return it to me unrepaired. The thing is, I hope they didn't update the system without my consent, because my acekard still works in the old firmware. If they updated, I'm screwed.

If the unit is under 1 year old, wear and tear should not be a problem so what exactly can you do to the underside of a n L shoulder button. I would request a full detailed description as to what the "damages" are and why they would not be not covered by your warranty.

wait you used the nyko powerpak+
that goes agains't your waranty.
try regestering at club nintendo and re-sending it.
Why does using the power pack void warranty? I thought it was just a peripheral, and if you included it when you sent in the 3ds, then it was a problem?
yeah but you have to open up the 3ds so it voids

Oh the one that you screw into the 3ds itself? Ah that explains it. However, for it to say that the "Damage exceeds wear and tear", Doesn't make sense to me. That kind of thing doesn't even seem to count as damage to me as far as I'm concerned.

Unlicensed products used on Nintendo products can void your warranty on said products. That includes Nyko products.

When you sent it in, did you send it with the Power Pak+ still attached to it? If so, then that might have been part of the declining. Have you been using the charge cradle that can come with the PP+? Many people have experienced problems with their systems due to that, as it isn't charging from the regular port.

I did not send in the powerpack + with the 3DS to Nintendo. I put the original battery and battery cover back on it, and I have never used the Nyko charging cradle. I don't even own it.

How the heck would they KNOW that I ever even used a Nyko Power Pak + in the first place? What, they have some sensor machine to detect third party products now?

When I used the Nyko Power on my 3ds, when I sent it in due to scratches on the screen with the original battery and cover. They repaired it with no problem. Did you anything else to it?

You'll be surprised people do some really stupid things. lol! That sucks man, sorry to hear that. I had the same problem happen, and I shipped it without the battery pack and got the repair done. Just make it look like the original thing.

The internal system logs don't log it blatantly as "ACEKARD 2i FLASHCART DS LOADER DOWNLOADED ROMS PLAYED ON SD CARD ILLEGAL". The only thing they would see is "Deep Labyrinth", "Chronicles of Narnia", and some other japanese title, which means they have no proof that I even used a flashcart, so I just don't understand why.
