Homebrew gbaemu4ds: GBA emulator for DS(i) (DSi Entry)

Is the graphic better if you use the sc Version and the upper screen on a 3DS

  • I can't do that (have no 3DS) (have not tested that)

Added some games to Compatibility List.(Veggie Tales; Mario vs. Donkey Kong; Steel Empire; Stuart little; Tarzan; TMNT and other)
I discovered that some games that freeze with Black/White screen with r38 newirq, may work with oldirq(Tarzan; Mario Kart; Mario vs Donkey Kong, etc...)

Probably works for you because you have DSi lol
DS, DS Lite, DSi and 3DS will all work the same because the DSi and 3DS will run in a sandbox mode to match that of a DS and DS Lite.

Edit: Updated FFVI.
Edit 2: If I could keep a proper site running, I'd add a page on it that details AK2i compatibility, but it's been really stupid lately.

Here is what: I tried FFVI on r4i with hyperforce and it happens the same you wrote in compatibility list. Conclusion: The flash card don't affect emulator' compatibility. If anybody can demonstrate contrary, please do it. But for now I demand removing the flash card column from compatibility list. Agree?

Actually as ichichfly said before new_irq from r38 is broken so use other version; preferable old_irq. If you see In compatibility list r38 new_irq, better use old_irq.

Agreed. It's exactly as I though, the flashcard used won't affect compatibility.

@tysonrss The flashcard you use won't affect it so what you see there, is what it will do on your Acekard, as well as mine will.

Edit: The same happens with SMA4 on the R4i you use as I get on my AK2i - It freezes after you select Mario or Mario & Luigi. Proof of concept.

Oh, I assumed it would because Ichfly made the emulator for R4s.

My apologies. That being the case, lets just get rid of the flashcart section to avoid any later confusion and spam.

I'm going to look retarded but anyway... I currently have an R4i Gold 3DS card and I am having difficulty setting up Ichichfly's GBA emulator. I am using a normal DSi.

I have created a video what I do. Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong.

It may be something simple that I'm doing wrong but I am a noob at this kind of stuff.

Help would be very much appreciated.
First of all you must download only hyperspeedupr37. Then to put on your card only code_container_new_irq.nds. Then you must check the Compatibility List for working games because Pokemon Sapphire is not working on r38.
It works! Thank you very much.

1.Where can i find hbmenu (the .nds one) to run this emu properly?
2. The emu doesn't recognise the file system when it is run directly from eos.
3. So I used rgf's ttmenu
4. Works, another world works with new irq but pokemon ruby doesn't .
What am i doing wrong?

1.Loaded rgf
2. Run new irq
3.pokemon ruby>start game>save file automatic>fps 60/1 >video syncline 159> pressed a for fast emulation
4. A lot of technical data appears(unknown op)(r0....r1.... Etc)
what do i do?

The new slow options is for games that run to fast

code_container_old_irq --> for some old homebrew that don't work with code_container_new_irq
code_container_new_irq --> normal Version
code_container_adv_irq --> for games that use H-Blank irq. Slower than code_container_new_irq
code_container_HBlankdma --> for games that use H-Blank irq and HBlankdmas while H-Blank irq enabled but not when H-Blank irq is disabled. Slower than code_container_adv_irq
code_container_force_irq --> for games that use H-Blank irq and HBlankdmas. Slower than code_container_HBlankdma

ADD:code_container_new_irq is broken in r38
THX.
Compatibility List Update:
  1. Work good:
  • Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
  • Golden Sun
  • Kirby Amazing Mirror/ Nightmare in Dreamland
  • Shaman King Series
  • Spongebob' Atlantis SquarePantis
  • Wario Ware Inc.
  • and other...
  1. With some problems:
  • Metal Slug
  • Aladin
  • Avatar Aang
  • King Kong
  • GTA
  • Garfield
  • Magical Quest 1, 2, 3
  • Donkey Kong Country 1,2
  • Samurai Jack
  • Spider Man 3
  • and other...
To @[member='ichichfly']:

The revisions 36, 37, 38 seem to have th same compatibility. There are a couple of problems in common for many games like:

1. In many games when the level is supposed to start, the screen turns black and freeze(for example Mario Kart, after you select kart, track and the race is supposed to start, it freezes with black screen).

2. In almost all platform games, sprites aren't displayed correctly, the order of tiles is incorrect and messed up. For such games I wrote 'Sprite Problems' on compatibility list. Please fix this problem.

There is a homebrew game Super Mario: The Last GBA Quest it works good with last rev. but in level the screen is covered with a lot of tiles.
Zelda Minish Cap now crashes.

That is a more complicated bug it will need some time to fix it.

@Zelda Minish Cap this is because of the new irq hooks that fix some games press the X button at the place where it normally crashes and it should work.

ADD: thanks for testing

Is it normal that some revisions you cannot select a save type? On force_irq, Pocket Monsters Fire Red (J) works, but you cannot save because you need a 128KB save type.

It is a bug. I will try to fix this in the next Version.

Well, that's basically what I was refering to when I said I was loading SMB3 with new_irq and old_irq (because none of the other distributions have that option). Maybe you can override that behaviour by loading a save file? It kinda worked for me before.

@[member='ichichfly']: Would it be possible to just merge all the releases into one NDS binary file, and let the user select the patch type he/she wants to use before starting the emulation? If you can't do it, that's understandable (due to the memory limitations and all that stuff).

Yes I may add that function later.

Edit: Updated FFVI.

I also think it is the best solution to remove the flash card column. In some early Versions some cards where for whatever reason not able to load some roms but looks like this is fixed now.

One last problem. How do you save the game correctly? This is for Pokemon Sapphire.
If it works, save in-game first, then press L+R+A+B, then go down to "save save" and press A. Then give it a moment, then you can resume.
So I do this and then turn my DSi off. When I turn it back on, how do I get that saved game back?
