Hardware Fake R4i Gold card? Please help me identify....

Hi guys, I've recently purchased a R4i Gold for my 3DS. I got it from this website here:
http://r4igold.cc/main.htm

I did some research and was told it would work with R4 Wood kernel. Well, I received the card today and tested it out and it doesn't. Is that fake then? I haven't tried the kernel listed on that page yet but I was hoping to get it working with R4 Wood......

I also tried it on my old DSi and it doesn't work.


OK, it seems R4Wood does work. I got the kernel from www.r4ids.cn, "Wood_R4iGold_V1.49".

UPDATE:
OK nvm it still doesn't work. It can get to the R4 Wood menu no problem, but after selecting any game, it pops up a message saying this card is fake blah blah blah.

It doesn't say on that website that the card is compatible with the Wood firmware.

It looks like you will have to use their kernel.

ya nvm I got it working by using the kernel from that website.

One quick question, my 3DS firmware is currently on v2.2.0-4E. Is it worth upgarding to newer firmware?

I've already flashed the update patch for the R4i Gold card, which I also got from that website I posted above. The patch says:

"2012-4-25 online upgrade to 3DS V4.0.0.7 and NDSi V1.4.4 download patch here !"

Which means (if I'm not wrong), it supports 3DS with firmware v4.0.0.7. Any firmware higher than that won't be supported by this card, because it would be blocked or something.

So ya, should I upgrade my 3DS firmware up to v4.0.0.7?

Check the website on the sticker of your card and find a suitable firmware.Besides, you should get a r4i gold card released by www.r4ids.cn, which is officially supported by WOOD R4.

I did, but that's the kernel firmware for the R4i Gold card. It works fine on my 3DS, I can play NDS games no problem.

I was talking about upgrading the Nintendo 3DS firmware. I dunno whether there is a benefit to upgrade from my current version (v2.2.0-4E) to something like v4.0.0.7 or higher. I know what firmware my R4i-Gold card can support up to, but I just want to know whether it's worthwhile to upgarde the 3DS firmware itself or not.

The answer is simple: All R4i Cards are fake!
It's not like I'm against it, or something like that, it's just because the R4 Team is dead, and they never made an R4i.
Actually, these R4i's are all made by others, usually based on Cards like CycloDS, M3i, Acekard, etc.

They aren't FAKE!
They are CLONES.
There is big difference between them.
The R4i Gold 3DS by r4ids.cn are quite excellent.

Even that excellent, my test R4i Gold broke in 3 months (even my good old M3DS Real still works).
