Why a dual-SIM phone?
Maybe he needs dual you know... :P
For example I have a dual-sim too because I have two SIMs... It's more easy this way because you don't need to carry two phones with you if you have multiple numbers.
There are even triple and quad sim phones as well.

Jam's explanation makes more sense. I never understood, but that's prolly because there's not much need for it in the UK, that and the high end Android phones I keep getting are always single-SIM only.

Personal / Work or Business
Contract with inclusive minutes & SMS/ Pay and Go with cheap international rates (Lebara etc)
Best package for minutes & sms / Best pacakage for Data

Going abroad?
Receive SMS on your UK SIM for free/Send SMS cheaply and get a cheap data package from a local SIM

I'm sure there are other uses but, yea, dual SIMs are very handy

The thread is over a month old o.o

I'm going abroad, so dual SIM would be handy. But I could just use a different phone for the other country. I've got a few lying around the house. The hard part is finding a cheap mobile internet deal in France.

Yea sorry; this area isn't very busy and it was still like one of the first half-page full of threads. Anyway, I felt the need to explain why Dual SIMs might be useful :)

Yes you could use another phone. But that means carrying two around. For some people that's not a problem. For others it is. Especially if you're not carrying a bag around, or not expecting a lot of activity on one device, it can feel a bit like dead weight. Plus if you need to silence/switch off etc it's easier to do on one device.

But certainly I wouldn't recommend investing in a Dual SIM phone just for a single holiday.
