Kojima is quoted in full saying:

"About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you 'a favour' like in the last Metal Gear Solid.

"I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it's better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5." "There will be a Metal Gear Solid 5 with the new FOX Engine".

He added: "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid. This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots."

But Kojima, no. That wouldn't work at all.

I see we're making the leap from nano machines to augments.

So we've made the leap from augments to nano machines to augments again. Kojima's playing technology hopscotch here!

So how old will Snake be in this one now? Personally I liked the way MGS4 ended, and doesn't really need a sequel.

He'll die at the start and than come back from the dead. The twist will be Snake was injected with nanomachines to make him into a messiah. So in MGS5, he;s ditching his bandana for a crown of thorns.

The joke aside, the first part is pretty much correct. Snake is a clone - that's no spoiler by now. His body is aging rapidly and he will eventually die, much like Big Boss himself.

There are a few paths here - there will be a new Snake, either a clone or a disciple, or the game will have a new protagonist. The second is unlikely, the first evokes a huge desire for mass murder in me as the plot is already convoluted and there really is no real reason to keep Snake alive, nor is there a lot of space for more Prequels. Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, Solidus and Big Boss are all either old or dead, and you know what they say about dead horses - don't beat them.

The protagonist will not be Raiden - he's getting his own Spin-off that just may evolve into a whole new series separate from the Solid series.

If you want my personal opinion... The Snake chapter of the series should be closed. If they want to make a prequel, I want to know more about Liquid's difficult childhood as a child of war - that'd be nice to explore in detail. If not that, create a new protagonist altogether - someone who looks up to the legend of the Solid Snake and does his best to achieve the noble codename of Snake, or even Fox.

I thought MGS5 was rumored to be another Big Boss story and involve the conception of Solid Snake?

Regardless, I liked the conversation stuff in Human Revolution and I can see it working for recruiting troops. It always seemed silly in Portable Ops and Peace Walker that you can just kidnap a bad guy and he'll instantly become loyal to his last breath. I could see these conversations being a good method of convincing them to do so.

...I hate Old Snake. Gimme a middle-aged Snake. Kojima can always explain it with some batshit process reversing the aging with nanomachines and shit.

fuck yeah a new MGS :) I have been ranting about it for a while, glad it's coming together.
cant wait to get the first pics, info and all !
and I really hope we'll see MGS4 on the 360, or at least that they'll make MGS5 on the 360 too...
I hope MGS HD on the 360 proved to Kojima that 360 gamers will buy their games
