The Wii U is gonna have 8 GB internal storage with the ability to increase it by HDDs and SD cards. I think they are doing this to cut the price to be affordable which is not a bad thing. Plus, I am sure HDDs and SD cards are getting cheaper by the minute. Although, the games might be a little too hot for a small HDD to handle X_X

I just hope we can install full games on an external hdd. I hate the slowness and noise of optical disk access (among other things).
One would think so. My personal guess is that the games downloaded on the HDD would be "locked" to one Wii U system, to prevent piracy. That way they don't have to do annoying stuff, like the 360 still requiring the disc as a "license" for downloaded games.

Too bad that the Wii U won't have a built-in HDD. I hate those crappy discs that gets destroyed easily

But on the good side, I can have lots of space for my WiiWare and Virtual Console games and I have a 1TB External HDD.

Enough space.
Just look at what is avaiable now from ninty's shop.
All content avaiable is around 8 GB.

If you had to buy all those games, you'de be filthy rich.
I think most people look at it as the wii, wich has no room to spare, mostly due to people having allot of content without even having to pay for it. e.g. piracy.

ANY normal user would'nt have all content avaiable.
In the worst case pull out your sd card, you only get what you NEED.
Best way to get a fair price.

Good call Nintendo

Agreed. Though it would be nice to have some sort expandable hard drive space that you could physically latch onto the Wii U, kinda like the externals for the 360.

As long as there IS flash storage on board (ahem... specific device) and expandable by USB. I'm in.

*gleams at 1TB flash drive*

It's been confirmed allready, sd cards and usb HDD. More than enough options when the time comes you need it.
No need to worry I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo copies the 360's capability to install games to a HDD, but require the original disc to be inserted while playing. I would be okay with that, although I'd definitely prefer not having to use discs at all.

Yeah, but I'm actually talking about an official piece DESIGNED to go in/on the Wii U "naturally" (so to speak), like the HDDs for the 360. Standard externals and USB drives are nice, but I don't want USB drives and wires sticking out and cluttering the area if I can help it.

Except they already said there'll be digital distribution, as well. Of course, it won't work to require a disc for a license if you only purchased a digital copy. :P
Well duh. I'm talking about buying discs from a store, not downloading them.

8 GB is bullshit. I have a 64 gig PS3 and the internal hdd is full all the time. If I can install my games to my external hdd, I'll be happy but 8 GB is only enough for 1 or 2 WiiU games installed on the console itself.

You can always add an external harddrive.

And 8GB is fine. This is solid-state storage so it would be perfect for texture cache.

I'm not sure it's enough for even one game... aren't the Wii U discs something like 25gb? But either way, I'd rather deal with this than a bigger price tag cuz of storage space (especially since I'm on the fence about whether I want to buy digitally or not, meaning such huge internal storage space might be useless to me). Would be nice to have expandable storage that could actually fit inside the Wii U, though.

Most of my content on my ps3 is dlc add on content, including map packs for cod. I am just worried about dlc space, not so much game installing space :(
