Is there any constantly updating NDS Homebrew website that contains new homebrew games and apps for the Nintendo DS at least weekly. But i don't mind anything else. I just want a website that constantly updates as new users upload new nds homebrews because i am going to test homebrew apps and games for my YouTube channel and give my viewers the download links. But I can't do that if the website i'm using is not always updating weekly. If you know a website dedicated to nds homebrew games and apps that updates weekly, please give me the link to that sites homepage so i have somewhere i can download nds homebrews from to help me test homebrews for my YouTube channel. Thanks! :yay:

Well, you are here arent you?

The thing is that the homebrew scene for the ds is kinda slow.....
so there's not alot of updating.

For all your ds homebrew need visit filetrip.

test homebrews for my YouTube channel. Thanks! :yay:
Just saying, but if you are planning on using Microsoft Sam to say everything on youtube, most people probably won't even watch...
As a short example, I checked two videos to see if there was any change from MS Sam to a real voice, but there wasn't and I promptly left the channel before 30 seconds was over.

I am not planning on using MS Sam in all my video's, just some video's. My real voice will be used in most of my video's!

you sort of missed the boat. the nds scene is pretty much over. i expect a few projects will still be released for as long as the system functions, but the golden days of 20 projects a week is gone.

when i was head of mag staff i mirrored/reported homebrew news daily. i never missed a project. so if you could build a time machine to go back 2-3 years then i would say to just use gbatemp. =/

right now your best bets would be pdroms.de, nintendomax.com, and gbadev.org.

if you need files to link to then search filetrip.net. i uploaded over 2,000 files for both gba and nds homebrew.

Yes, i will be testing homebrew games for the Nintendo DS, but I will also hopefully be able to bring homebrew nds back to life as sometimes i learn some programming. (Please don't ask, i've started simple and went harder the more i learnt). Also, NightFox & Co. Is still developing games, i think!

The scene's been dead for a while now, so there's not much news to be covered. Damn shame, as the DS had some pretty good stuff going. Same with the PSP. Just wait for more some recent hardware to get hacked and start when the getting's good.

Yeah, you all do have a point there, but i'm thinking of the NDS like all those computers with Mac OS 9, Simple hardware and software meant that the scene was still going on, even if i might be the last of the NDS homebrew scene, at least i can entertain those who have an emulator or a physical DS with an R4 device or simillar. Just a shame homebrew groups and individuals don't focus on the Nintendo DS anymore! And i most likely won't be able to buy new hardware until it gets cheaper. If i can find new homebrew groups for the NDS, i'll give them greetings on the credit parts of my games!

DS Scene will end after my dead body xD
*ahem* just kidding
We are in mid-time between ending DS homebrew development (serious one I mean) and starting 3DS homebrew development (we still need to wait for some hack-in) it's difficult and freaking BOOOORING time I agree...

Killer (not at this bord) and I started to make homebrew a few months ago. Our homepage (in German) is http://www.fuk-team.de.vu. You can test our Pong Port (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2hwl4i4ro6mccqz; adapts your system language English/German) and our matrix version (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cfw2jykqwewp6e2; it doesn't really look like the original).

Well, since my daughter wanted me to make a game for her again, I might be able to make 1 or 2 homebrews. Probably a snakes and ladders crap and an arena shooter.

I need to flex my coding muscles anyways (never coded something big in almost a year now).

So... The homebrew scene for the NDS is not "dead" just too slow, due to the 3DS being hacked at the moment...

The 3ds isn't currently being hacked.
Ppl are trying to figure out how.(with no recent breakthroughs to my knowledge.)
Once it IS hacked and development figured out, expect an explosion of activity in the scene.
I predict it'll be even bigger than the ds scene.
It's still far off. Far enough that some ppl question if it can be done.(like me)

If Nintendo would achieve in creating perfect security in the 3DS it would turn our world upside down, gods doesn't like such activity :P
There is no system you can't hack.

I think, that the scene is in a change. The first developers got too old and now the second generation starts developing homebrew for the ds.

the golden age of ds deving is over. there won't be a second generation. that generation is going to start with systems like the 3ds and vita. they may use the ds as a testing grounds to learn coding but not to make serious projects. just look back over the last 2 years and you will see how drastically the ds homebrew scene died off. this year we saw a small handful of updates to some really good projects but nothing new.

even if the 3ds gets hacked i don't think it will have the abundance of homebrew the ds had. you'll see a bunch of ds projects ported with updates to make use of the better hardware. this will, most importantly, include emulation. then eventually after a year or two those projects will die out being far from final releases. developing "3d" games will spark some interest but i expect the initial difficulty will push some new developers away causing "3d" homebrew to have a limited gimmick filled life. one thing i am 100% sure of is a "3d" homebrew paint program!

most developers have moved onto android devices and handhelds designed for homebrew (dingoo, pandora, etc). getting them to come back just for the 3ds is going to be an uphill battle.

when the ievo was released it offered a wonderful dsi-mode homebrew solution. rather expensive and somewhat cumbersome to set-up, it did allow emulators the added horse power they needed. play any ds/dsi homebrew in either mode and you will quickly see the benefits of speed. however, no one embraced it. this is because cyclods waited to long to release the dsi-mode flash kit. mostly because they lacked a talented coder to provide them with usable system software. by the time the push was made, thanks to the gbatemp homebrew boundy, we saw a handful of emulators that will most likely never be updated. now, look how long it has been for the 3ds already. by the time a workable solution is released (if that ever happens) what interest will be left? who is to say that the vita won't be hacked first?

it is wishful thinking to hope that either system will be hacked in a usable fashion. it is even more wishful thinking to want a second age of ds homebrew development. i loved the ds scene, probably more than most here, i would want nothing more then continued ds homebrew development. sometimes you just need to face the music and accept it for what it is... over.

@[member='relminator'], a polished multi-player (nifi maybe?) snakes and ladders game for the ds sounds awesome! =)

There will be a few of us still hacking ROMS and creating homebrew, but another world was right. The golden age of DS homebrew is over.

Think of it from a developer standpoint.

  • DS
    1. Very weak processor.
    2. 4MB of RAM.
    3. Tiny resolution.
    4. Has to be carried around in addition to modern things like a phone.
    5. Requires the purchase and use of a flash cart for homebrew.
    6. If you want your homebrew to make money, that's up to you to develop or rely on donations.
    7. Has a single-touch resistive screen, period.
    8. Wifi limited to WEP at very slow speeds for homebrew.
    9. No bluetooth, GPS, etc. for additional connectivity in your program.
  • Android Device
    1. Some models go up to quad-core 1ghz ARM processors.
    2. Ranging from 256MB-1GB depending on the model.
    3. Up to 720P+ resolutions.
    4. Often IS your phone.
    5. Has official support for developing applications.
    6. Has an official store that takes care of most of it for you.
    7. Can have a multi-touch capacitive screen.
    8. Can work with WEP, WPA, and WPA2, at native speeds.
    9. Can have bluetooth, GPS, and more depending on the model.
And so on.

Well. The Nintendo DS is really simple hardware to program for and lots of other shit like that. I mean, hey! The Amiga demo scene still exists and is alive. LOADS of people bought a Nintendo DS when it first came out. Up to this year. I pretty much think that the Nintendo DS is the Amiga of our generation. Legendary system. Excellent games and us, the hackers might target it. A small group going by "fuk team" has already started. I myself has been wanting to be a part of the scene for a while. (Shoyru, better get some coding tutorials to be learnt!) If the NDS has had marketing levels like the last couple of years and now. We probably could start a whole new array of groups and individuals that create awesome games for the DS and end up with competitions, parties and everything! The scene could be extraordinary for all I know. I'll be doing homebrew once i have a better experience with C/C++

Simple hardware to program for? You need to get a flash cart and such in order to do it at all, and there's no official tools so you're relying on third-party support. If you're doing this on a DSi or 3DS, then a single firmware update could render your flash cart (and thus your work) unbootable because you're skirting around Nintendo's protections.

Compare that to other development hardware like arduino, which is cheaper, has official support, and lets you explore hardware programming a lot closer (assuming that was your focus).

For a higher-level focus on features, though, android devices still win. Much better specs, cameras you can actually program with, and more. Even on the DSi and 3DS, flash carts still operate at the DS-level (outside of the iEvo which only halfway works).

As for DS demos and such...
http://pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform[]=Nintendo+DS&order=&x=32&y=7&page=1&order=
The DS has been out for almost 8 years, and that's all that's listed there.
So I don't think there's nearly as much enthusiasm as you think.
