WOW , Very Nice !! Point for Sony !! Now, the PS Vita is to a Phone *.*
No honey plums, the PSVita is a portable console with dual analog sticks, 3G connectivity, video chat, voice chat and voIP-to-phone chat built-in now. Y'know, a console with all those things the one in your nick doesn't have built-in? Well, except the second analog - that was fixed by attaching a tumour to it.

"for FREE"

Has skype ever been a paid extra for any platform? The program is free on computers, smartphones, tablets and even the PSP. You only pay for a subscription if you use it for overseas calling

Facts are not tastes. When the Vita has something and the 3DS doesn't, it's not a taste, it's cold facts. I can just as well say that the Vita hasn't got a 3D screen because it hasn't got one. It's called being objective.

You're the one who called the Vita a phone and you lecture me about not discussing about tastes? C'mon.

Where the hell is the 3DS version?
Nintendo didn't want to pay royalties for using *DVD's*, you expect them to pay royalties for Skype? Surely you jest.

They'll make their own software that does the same thing, just slightly worse and with no infrastructure for landline/cellphone calls.
Yeah, Nintendo hates 3rd party programs. I don't see it happening.

You're right, they probably will release their own video chat thing for the 3DS. Eventually.... that's all I'm asking for.

What about the Facebook integration they added to the DSi.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't pay much for it, if at all. Facebook makes money not thanks to licensing fees but thanks to its users buying other users cows on FarmVille. (J/K)

Seriously though, I will not be suprised if next year's selection of toasters will have a dedicated Facebook application - that stuff is everywhere... but you do have a point, I wonder if they paid much for it or were they paid to include it. After all, keeping their users online brings benefits to Facebook.

and the opera web browser for wii
and ATI graphics
and other stuff.
They can't exactly make their own GPU, they don't have proper facilities for that anymore, nor do they really have to. As for Opera, they chose the low-cost option rather than wasting time developing their own browser which would obviously be inferior before numerous patches are released. Why do you think Sony opted to use Netfront's core for their browser? It's for convinience sake.

Nintendo's investing a lot in the new Nintendo Network, I sincerely believe that they will want a dedicated application rather than an outsourced one.

i was only giving an example, no need to provide excuses as to way they are paying them - no wonder people call you a sony fanboy.
*Foxi4 hugs prowler tightly and spends the rest of his day playing with his Nintendo consoles.*

I choose not to be deluded as to why NintenDoes certain things and NintenDoesn't others.

and this is the part where you try to prove to us that you're not.

nobody knows why skype isn't for 3ds and i'm pretty sure skimping isn't a reason.

if i had to take a guess, it would be because it would be half-assed and people would just complain either way. it would probably take a full work around to get it to run in the background (what's the point having the app if you can only receive calls when you've got the app open?) while a game is running and then you'd have to give some notification instead of obnoxious light to know that someone is calling you and im pretty sure that the 3ds can't display notifications in-game like the Vita can.

Fortunately I don't particularily care for what people think about me. ;)

I do agree with the reasons you've given though, the app would probably be slightly handicapped by the firmware as it is now unless it was integrated into it in this way or another, and that would likely need a lot of firmware reworking.

Then why the 3DS doesn't have it?
