Gold Rush for the Club Nintendo RPG Commemorative Coin Collection

Qualify to receive the Club Nintendo RPG Commemorative Coin Collection
by entering a new Club Nintendo promotion linked to the action
RPGs Pandora’s Tower, Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story.

Pandora’s Tower is the latest in a series of action-packed RPGs to come from
Nintendo, and launches across Europe today, exclusively on Wii, coming hot on the
heels of previous RPGs Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story

Nintendo Europe

Registered the Last Story (forgot to weeks ago) and Pandora's Tower yesterday, and earlier today I received
an email from Nintendo saying that I'm eligible for the Coin Collection and to stay tuned with details on how to confirm my order.

I'm very pleased :)

So all you Europeans if you haven't done so already, register those RPG's asap!

:)

I saw that yesterday, and man, they look really awesome... It sucks that I don't own a Wii, otherwise I'd get all those games (they're awesome rpg's) and get the coins too. D=
Although it kinda sucks that it's like the Kid Icarus thingy, you need to input the codes now, if you already did before, you're screwed.

Seems like a desperate last money-making attempt before the Wii finally dies once and for all.

How so? They are free 'if you register the 3 games'.

Or am I missing something?

(why is google reading this topic?)
Exactly. If you already have 2 (or even 1) of the 3 games you'd be tempted to buy the last one in order to claim the coins (which can be made for MUCH less than £30 RRP of the game). It's tempting people to buy games that they wouldn't normally buy / were borderline on whether to buy or not.

Unless you're like me and bought them regardless - it's a nice little incentive I suppose.
I didn't get the limited editions of the games though despite their uniqueness (if you want to call them that) - just the standard edtions.

It's just a nice bonus for people who bought the game. It isn't a money-making strategy.

Do you honestly believe a company that is trying to make money would just give things away for free? This is obviously to get people who are on the fence about buying the last of these 3 games or die-hard collectors. It's the same thing as the Kid Icarus Classics promo

They're entirely fair promotions, they incentivise games you probably were interested in to begin with.
They already held a contest where you had to do a short Let's Play video about Xenoblade, and the prize would be copies of the other two JRPGs.

A friend of mine is getting those. Lucky chap :P

They're really nice. And FREE!
Is he? You don't get the coins by registering the three games, you get a chance of getting the coins.
OP's post doesn't make this very clear.
The e-mail he got says this:

Il set di monete è disponibile fino a esaurimento scorte, ma non temere: avendo ricevuto questa email vuol dire che sei riuscito ad assicurartelo.

It's obviously in italian, but here's a rough translation:
"The money set is available until stock's gone. But don't worry: if you've got this email, it means that you surely got them."

Well then, congrats to him, of course!
Those coins do look very nice to have.

Exactly. They are incentives for buying the games. Some people who may have pirated them have probably now reconsidered and gone out and bought them instead.
Also, the let's play thing is different - I don't know the details but from what you just said; they gave away 2 copies of a game. 2 copies. About £60 worth. That's nothing to a massive company like Nintendo compared to the advertising they get with the competition.

To build consumer loyalty, yeah. There are other reasons aside from pure profit.

OK, let's assume that it is to build 'consumer loyalty'. That's still in order to secure future sales from that consumer.
