Nemain, a member of Sonic Stadium, discovered earlier today that along with the new ability to pre-order the game, they also received the ability to download an incomplete version of the game. The fansite moved quickly, many members playing the title and capturing screenshots such as the one above.

The hole has since been patched, but many fans managed to play enough of the game to form their impressions and everyone seems pleased with the title, calling the graphics superb and expressing enjoyment of the humor. Any discussion over the leak has been erased from the official SEGA forums.

This is the second leak the title has experienced, the last one occurring in February. The game launches on May 15, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Steam. Let’s see if any more leaks spring between now and then.

I'm liking what I see, I enjoyed the first part once I got over the fact that it was Dimps style Sonic rather than classic Sonic we wanted. This seems to address some issues I had with the previous episode (jumping, physics etc) and to be honest looks like it could be a good downloadable title.

It looks legit enough. I love this, but I can't help but feel it'll be an epic but medicore game. I know the evidence is against me, but it doesn't feel like a super extra awesome game.

EDIT: Of course, that's my opinion. So don't assault me, Sonic Fanboy Die-Hards from Hell!

I didn't consider this to be the dimps style at all.

It felt like the originals. The dimps style in the beginning were close to the originals too, but come sonic advance 3 to rush and then rush adventure... bleh... it had become this... far too fast, far too random style. Saying that, I enjoyed the crap outta Rush Adventure.

Going to have to go against the trend here- the only thing I enjoyed was the wong shield and I think that sound along with the drowning countdown shortcuts my brain. Certainly it looks playable, the co-op moves as part of the gameplay are a welcome addition (although I can not help but think about the 2008 prince of persia*) and it will probably a lot better than the imitators (I would say other platformers but some of the odd stuff has set the bar rather high of later) but I can not help but feel this will be a footnote.

On the other hand I did learn to get along with NSMB and that was quite different and those videos did get better as it went along.

*I say having spent the vast majority of recent playthroughs playing as knuckles.

Wasn't the first episode also leaked way before the launch? Seem to remember I had it on my Xbox360 months before the release.

Yes it was. It was removed shortly after it was leaked. There was a WiiWare leak of it too. It was on Japan's release date. Sega made an error.

Do you think maybe the leaks are a tad more deliberate to gauge fan reaction and try to generate hype?
It certainly does seem to be pulling some favours, this leak has also produced some music leaks.
