In an interview with Nintendo Gamer (as reported by CVG), renowned game designer Keiji Inafune (Mega Man/Dead Rising) said he plans on a steady flow of console creations.

"I...intend to release big-budget games with regular frequency. [We are] already making several console games. I can't tell you what kind of games yet, but I'm sure gamers in the west will be happy," Inafune said.

He's also apparently not quite done with zombies.

"I'd love to make another zombie game, but not the same sort of zombie game."

At present, we know of at least one game Inafune is currently working on, which is King of Pirates for the Nintendo 3DS.

Even though Inafune didn't create Megaman, he is still higly responisble for his creation. I also feel more comfortable with Megaman being in his hands rather than with Capcom. Capcom to me is starting to become the next EA. Sure, it's nice that they included some sort of incarnation of Megaman in MvC3, but I also feel as if they were making fun of him. BBA Megaman is a humerous concept, but it's almost like a joke taken too far.

Guys, guys, I know he created Megaman and all, but can we give it a rest? Capcom is obviously not going to give him the rights to that franchise; let's just sit back and allow him to explore some new directions instead.

If you dont want to hear about it then you don't have to say it. Please let us say it out loud from our expression and our own feelings and opinion about Capcom toward Megaman ? Maybe you are not fan but we are. ;)

When did I attack your freedom of expression?

Asking people to be sensible and reasonable does not equal censorship. The more you know...

It would be great if Capcom let him adopt Megaman to his company so he can develop it instead. Sighing.

Sadly that's the equivalent of Square-Enix letting Hironobu Sakaguchi direct another Final Fantasy game.
Which likely won't happen anytime soon. :(

It's a shame that Mega Man is dead, this its 25th Anniversary they could've done so much...

They need to tie up Classic with X (Megaman 11)
They need to make a Elf Wars game (Megaman X9)
They need to make a Zero to ZX game (or not the events here can be explained in ZX3)
They need to make ZX3
They need to make Legends 3

I don't ask for more, after that the series can die, I just want for all the games to be connected properly.

Capcom didnt say that Megaman is dead until they say it is. Right now, Rockman X and Zero will be playable in Project X Zone for 3DS so anything is possible. The Capcom also mention Megaman news recently:

Capcom SVP Comments On Mega Man News

Much to the chagrin of fans, Capcom had nothing to show in regards to new Mega Man games at this year's Captivate press event. Granted, few Mega Man games have ever been announced at past Captivate conferences, so expectations were relatively rational from the get-go. However, many were hoping Capcom would use the event to finally detail their plans for the franchise's 25th anniversary.

Alas, nothing was said.

Following this morning's stream of announcements, Capcom Unity forum member Jimb0 sought assurance and asked when fans could expect some Mega Man news in light of the new fiscal year. Capcom’s Senior Vice-President of Planning and Business Development Christian Svensson quickly followed up with a response: "Likely to be a while still... these things take time."

Of course, this isn't too hard to believe. We already have been waiting quite a while, mind you. The good news is Capcom is trying to think of something to do with Mega Man, at the very least, though whether anything will pan out before December 17, 2012 remains to be seen.

In the meantime, all we can do is continue to wait and hope that something worthwhile comes to fruition.

If Capcom keeps doing this, Mega Man will probably go into obscurity in the same way as Breath of Fire. :wtf:
