Han Randhawa is the art director for Darksiders 2 and in this interview towards the end he said something that could be considered conflicting with another recent interview with Marvin Donald the director of Darksiders 2.

"There is not much I can really talk about right now, but I think that the Wii U is a pretty powerful machine, which obviously means more resources, and means you can do a lot more. So the Wii U team is doing very well, we've been working with Nintendo and I think it's going to be a very exciting version of Darksiders but we want to keep that overall theme relatively consistent."

As to why the statements may be conflicting, look at this post.

Who honestly gives a fuck about how powerful the Wii U is? It's all about the games, Bro.

A powerfull console usually means more third party support which usually means better games. That's why people didn't like the Wii. It was weak so third party developers avoided it like the plague.

That was considered a powerful console in it's time. The PS2's time has passed. You're just feeling nostalgia.

Actually, it was the least powerful of all the three last gen. They downgraded games to run on the system. Then again, back then multi-platform releases didn't really matter as game development costs weren't as high.

I cannot believe that the GameCube was more powerful than the PS2.
It actually was, from the games that I recall playing, they were pretty awesome compared to most PS2 games.
Edit: I meant graphics wise, not the rest... (Although the few good games that the game cube had, were REALLY good.)

The Gamecube was a beast, almost up there with the original Xbox. Its limiting factor, uncomfortably similar to the N64, was the minidiscs.

...

This is the second confirmation we have from Vigil that the Wii U is more powerful than current Gen. The first confirmation was from the technical director of Vigil, the man who ported Darksiders II to the Wii U together with two other guys in about 5 weeks.

The other source that said the Wii U was on par with other consoles was from the game director. The idea guy. And given that the transcription of his interview was full of "you know"s, I don't think he was entirely comfortable or prepared. He probably made a mistake.

Yeah I remember seeing RE4 and noticing how much worse it looked.

To be entirely fair, the difference in power between the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox was much smaller than the difference in power between the Wii and its competitors.

Liked the videos and really am waiting for the WiiU, but what really struck my eye is the 360 controllers in the video. I thought that they'd at least use the WiiU controllers for displaying an interview for a for promoting the game itself. I'm not really interested in the change in graphics (PS3/360 is closer to the WiiU than the Wii was, so the jump isn't that big), but the use of the controller. If the controller can be used for a marathon gaming session without having to take sick leave, I'm buying it day 1.

The interview wasn't about the Wii U. It was about Darksiders II. There was no need to show Wii U hardware in the shots, given that the bit about the Wii U sounded an awful lot like an afterthought tacked on at the end

To this day I hold a grudge against the PS2 for killing the Dreamcast. When the PS2 came out everything on it looked like crap compared to the Dreamcast, but people just couldn't pass up a cheap DVD player and a console together. Thanks to that it gained control of the market and used that to hold itself up against the superior Gamecube and Xbox.

Sega killed the Dreamcast, not Sony
Sega Saturn killed the Dreamcast lol

Anyways i knew they GC was more powerful than the PS2 but honestly i never noticed a huge graphics and processor gap like you see between the Wii and PS3/x360.

Unfortunately the way things are going, i feel like the Wii U will have a honeymoon phase of 2 years where the big third party companies rerelease all the games the wii missed for the Wii U and then PS4 and Xbox will have their new consoles out. Then we have another generation like this one. However i could be wrong. I have been in the past and this is all speculation.
