There may be some questions that are already answered in other forums, but at least with this forum, there are more than just that one question.

1.Are there any Homebrew programs that enable cheats in PSP/PS1 games? -How are they used? -How are their files organized?

2.I got a PSP 3000. Since I want to play PSP/PS1 games (Maybe N64) which CFW is best recommended?

3.When playing a PS1 game with multiple disks (Ex: Chrono Cross-2Disk) how does PS12PSP make it work? -How does the game react when you reach the part of the game where you need to switch disks?

4. I want to play online for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. Will my CFW get me banned from PSN?

5.How do you make custom backgrounds/themes for the PSP menu/dashboard thing?

6.Is there a video/music player on the PSP that acts like a MP3? -If not, any homebrew that can do so?

7.What is POPS? What is it for?

8.Can you add your friends who have a PS3 account onto your friends list?
-Ex: I have the PSP. I want to add my friend onto my friend list, but he has the PS3. Will this work?

9.Can you play games like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker together on different systems at once?
-Ex: I am playing MGSPW on PSP. My friend has MGSPW on PS3. Can we play together despite being on different systems?
-I mean, there's not much of a difference between the games and PSP and PS3 both share PSN right?

10. ISO Ripper... How exactly does it work? Noob words please. XD
How I think it works: Crisis Core is in the PSP. I load up ISO Ripper and from there, the program copies the game from the UMD Drive to the Memory Stick.
-Am I correct on that?

11. Is the internet browser good on PSP?
-Because Wii and DS are crappy with internet browsing...

12. Instant Messaging on PSP?
-Self Explanatory.

UPDATE EDIT: 3/25/12

13. Ok, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable_system_software , Firmware 6.37 seems best for the options I want on my PSP. (I want to be able to play Dissidia 012 FF) So if I get CFW 6.37, will the PS1 games (and other various homebrew programs) work well?

UPDATE EDIT: 3/26/12
14. How do I use TempAR 162.3? Any clear tutorials? Some of them are confusing. Oh, I plan on using this for CFW 6.20 PRO.

15. What can brick my PSP? I want to know so then I can be careful with how I hack my PSP.

UPDATE EDIT: 3/28/12

16. I have a PSP 1000. Is it slower than the typical PSP 3000? Will the PS1 games lag when played?
A: The PS1 games won't lag. :3 I'm using CFW 6.20 B-10

17. Uhh...what happened to my PSP's MAC address? It disappeared after I input CFW 6.20...

UPDATE EDIT: 3/31/12

18. Are there any clear tutorials on how to use CWCheat? The ones I find tend to be confusing...

19. Chrono Cross freezes after I defeat the Mama Komodo! What do I do to fix this problem?
-I've seen somebody else have this problem, but I can't find their forum post about this.

I'll try and answer them as best as I can.
  1. Yes. There are 2 good ones if I know right. CWCheat and TempAR, personally I use CWC since its simpler but its more of your choice both are easy to use once you get used to them though.
  2. I suppose the PRO ones you can get from the guides on GBATemp but otherwise I think theres ME and TN or something but I think PRO is pretty good.
  3. I think it automatically switches, the only PSX EBOOT I have that has multiple discs is FFVII and I didn't bother playing to reach disc 2 yet so i'm not so sure how it is done.
  4. I don't think it would be.
  5. Ummm....sorry not great with this one so i'm gonna skip it.
  6. The PSP has a music and video player but I guess there is a Moonshell for PSP that seems alright but it only plays music not videos.
  7. I think that is for compatibility for PSX games on the FW your PSP is one since some PSX games aren't that compatible with the FW's POPs.
  8. Probably, is that on PSN or something?
  9. Ummm....skip
  10. I assume so. I don't know never used it before.
  11. The browser isn't that great but it is better than the DS.
  12. Probably, not sure.
I don't think I was much help but I tried to answer as much as I can. Hope this helps a little.

This helped! Even the smallest of answers can help. :3
Thanks! Let's hope this will help other people who have these type of questions.

1 - Yes. CMFusion, CWCheat, TempAR. They're plugins and the way they're set up and such varies. They tend to use databases so updating the codes is easy, and they tend to have cheat finders/editors built-in so adding and modifying the codes so you don't need to mess with the files. TempAR and CWCheat have versions for PSX games, CMFusion does not.

2 - The 6.x PRO series.

3 - PSX games are run through Sony's official virtualization software, and that has a "switch discs" option in the pause/home screen/menu if the version you're using puts multiple discs into one file.

Otherwise if each disc is it's own file, generally the games have you save at the point you switch discs anyways, so you save, then exit the game, and then start the next disc and load your save. This second method should work assuming all the discs were given the same ID when converting so they all read the same save info.

4 - I haven't heard of that yet, but I wouldn't rule it out. Haven't tried online play myself on a PSP.

5 - Backgrounds are simply images, put them in the photos folder and when viewing them in the PSP, in the menu you can set one as your wallpaper.

As for custom themes, that's more complex. You need the CXMB plugin to use them, they're .CTF files, and I don't know which CTF editor is best, just make sure you're using the 6.x version of CXMB (not the older 5.x version) and you're editing themes for 6.x, not 5.x.

6 - It has a music player by default, otherwise PMPlayer Advance is a homebrew music/video player.

7 - It's the Sony official PSX system thing. It's built-in. POPSLoader, on the other hand, is a tool to change POPS around for compatibility reasons.

8 - ???

9 - ???

10 - ???

11 - Eh. It's certainly better than the DS, but it's not an alternative to PC browsing.

12 - BitlBee servers, using an IRC client.
http://www.bitlbee.org/main.php/news.r.html
Connect to the bitlbee IRC servers and use them to connect to your IM accounts and talk to people. It's odd, but it works.

Re: 2 & 13

Having a PSP 3000, you'd have 2 obvious choices: if you can (and want to) go permanent (depends on your 3k's mobo) it's 6.20 PRO, if you can't get a permanent, go for 6.60.

It's pretty pointless going in between those 2 versions, as you can play most if not all PSP games in 6.20 (yes, even Dissidia 012) unless there's a specific homebrew that hasn't been updated or doesn't natively work with 6.60.

Some people have problems with the PSN-incarnations of PS1 games on 6.20 as well, and some may be solved with a bit of patching and/or popsloader, but for some updating to 6.60 is a quick and painless way to do so.

No problem I became kinda obsessed with the PSP after buying one at the end of last year so I like to help out when I can.

I'm obsessed with getting a PSP. XD Hopefully tomorrow I will have one, so I'm doing all this studying to ensure I have no problems.
Sure sure. Now for 13 you don't really have to be on FW 6.37 for those games to work and alot of them work on 6.20 anyway so don't worry and I think I answered about PSX games already but if your having issues then use POPsloader.

So it is best if I go with CFW 6.60 PRO?
The Homebrew I plan on using is DaedalusX64 and maybe another for music/videos.

Again don't worry about updating your FW. Alot of games that Sony says works on OFW 6.60 will work on CFW 6.20 otherwise there will be a patch or something to allow it to work to put your mind at easy I ran a badly undubbed FFDissidia 012 last month and it works perfectly, I also can play games released in 2012 so again.

Yep you can find it in one the stickies on the top of the PSP hacking discussions, I think it was the hacking/modding FAQ.

For 3, Can I:
Use PSX2PSP to make Chrono Cross Disk 1 and 2 into EBOOTs?
Will they have their respective Game IDs? What about the Save ID? Will they be the same? Just want to clarify things.
CC Disk 1: SLUS-01041
CC Disk 2: SLUS-01080
Will both their Save IDs be SLUS-01041 then?
I plan on having them on their own EBOOT files.

Yay~ At least I won't be stuck at the end of disk 1 for Chrono Cross. :3
