We have already heard the rumor that failed that an update was suppose to come to us on the 20th of March wich apperently failed but now take a look at this:

Maxconsole is claiming that Nintendo is readying a 3DS update for launch in just a few days. There would be a number of features in the firmware, such as a “Game Preview” mode on the eShop, a Nintendo Network application, and more.
A full listing of the functionality included in the rumored update is as follows:

* Ability to access Nintendo eShop account from other internet enabled devices including computers and smartphones.
* This system update will allow users to take pictures of QR codes with the 3DS from the other device’s screen to redeem purchased content.
* This update will add the application “Nintendo Network” to the 3DS.
* Ability to update physical Nintendo 3DS Games via Nintendo Shop (DLC feature).
* A “Game Preview” Mode for the Nintendo 3DS system Nintendo Shop.
* Enhances the speed of the handheld.
* Increases the system security with automatic security updates.
* Nintendo Zone will be automatically added to European 3DS owners.
We’ll be able to determine if this rumor is legitimate or not soon. If nothing becomes available within the next few days, that would be a pretty good sign that the above speculation is fake!

April 1st is right around the corner...some of these features seem to good to be true...but we DO know DLC IS coming but the app "Nintendo Network" seems fishy...why would they make an app named after a service? fishy fishy...

Hmm, hasn't this been a feature for some time now? They've been advertising automatic updates for a while. Perhaps this means something new?
Then again, they've also been advertising something along the lines of "your 3DS can download software via spotpass whilst in sleep mode", And how much has that done...?

Although the rest of the internet didn't seem to care till gaf posted it. :P
Turns out they're quoting neogaf, who are quoting them, who are quoting neogaf, who are quoting a japanese webpage, who are quoting maxconsole, who probably got it from wiki.
Confusing enough?

fake/10
But there probably is a 3.0000000.7 coming soon, to block the carts the dsi blocked.

BTW, 3.00000000000.4 or 5 added QR code reading, press R on the menu and look at the top screen.

If there's no app then what makes NN any different then what we got, its probably just a app to use for accounts/community, I mean Nintendo did say they wanted some form of 3DS community.

Nintendo Network App? Speeds up system?

Doesn't sound that Nintendo.
HD and account based online doesn't sound very Nintendo but their doing it.
Face it guys, more or less Nintendos trying to change.
But is it even possible to 'speed up' the system? Unless they want to ruin more battery life.

to make the system more efficient? better code handling? namely the bootrom? YES, they can always increase the efficiency of the bootrom, if they were to reach the limit of bootrom efficiency, they could underclock the CPU and make the code MORE efficient... as simple as that, they got the documentation, they know what it takes to run a 3DS\DS game, they can build it and they can build it better, I don't need to point out game examples that were redone on lower-end hardware and had better coding in some sort... bootrom is not the only place they can enhance...

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
