Since 1987, the Metal Gear series has become one of the most popular in games. So popular in fact that art from the series is being featured in the Smithsonian!

The game art will be featured as part of The Art of Video Games exhibition which runs from March 16 through September 30th.

Moreover, GameInformer reports that games in the series have sold over 31 million copies as of December, 2011.

While I love MGS GBC and the first MSX game...the rest I never liked though looking forward to the "over the top" Revengence seeing PlatinumGames have yet to have gone wrong with any game.

Still I sorta see the appeal, its a cheesy stealthy action game. Its meant to have terrible plot and dialogue so it has kitsch value and I rather this do well than other titles that clearly don't have the amount of hard work and detail to them that this series has.

Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel (GBC)

Add in Twin Snakes and the lame NES games and that's about it.
It is a lot. That's a good number of real games, and a large number of remakes.

The Metal Gear Solid series is among the best in gaming history, Right up There with Zelda and Metroid.

Metal Gear has always had awesome gameplay, even if it was a bit too unrealistic as some people say (guards going "What's Wrong!?" upon seeing his friend being shot and collapsing) it's still a hell of fun!
the story, while complicated is such an awesome story, especially big boss's story in Snake Eater-Peace Walker.

Um, no offense, but if that's the thing you think is unrealistic in Metal Gear Solid, then you're missing a lot.

I'd say katana fighting Dr. Octopus on top of the Federal Reserve takes the cake on the unrealistic thing.
