Lies and slander. I only purchased an original MSPD to use it for Pandora purposes, since adapters+SD's usually don't work for those (ipl issues). In all the other respects, adapters are more then sufficient. They *do not* cause glitching or lagging. They're simply a cheap alternative to quickly get high capacity storage. While I agree that the read/write speeds are slower, they are not *slow enough* to affect gameplay in any way.

Also ISO > CSO. If you don't want in-game content like FMV's or MP3's to lag, never compress your games unless you are 100% certain that it will not cause any issues. It's just not worth it. CSO is a format in which you *store* your games on an HDD to save space, at least in my opinion.

Thats actually wrong. CSO on PSP just increases loading times but apart from that everything else stays the same, so there usually is no lagging in FMVs and MP3s. I compressed all my ISO expect Madoka portable and BlazBlue since you can't compress them somehow and they work exactly like the ISO the only thing that changed is the loading times, its just a little slower, I would make a comparison but I only have 1 PSP.

Would you care to wager on that?

FMV sequences and MP3's are *streamed*, they will lag because they need to be uncompressed before loading. To further prove my point, I will give you examples of games that will lag in CSO format:

1. Project Diva 1 and 2 (MP3's)
2. Armored Core: Last Raven (FMV's)

Test stuff before you refute it.

I did test before I said that but my test was with Persona 3 and CC but i'm sure it affects games differently. I compressed Project Diva 2nd and when playing through it there was no lag so I don't know how you found it lagged.
From playing it on two different PSP's and using two different memory sticks. Everything depends on the level of Compression that you choose. Lag may be minimal and barely noticible, it can also be massive enough to impede gameplay. It's also a matter of how fast the stick/adapter can read/write and what's the current CPU/Memory setting. In any case, it's a general rule that CSO'd games may lag. Not all of them will, but they *might*. ISO should be considered the default format used when it comes to loading as it is the least compressed.

I never said ISO shouldn't be considered the default but if you want to compress then there usually is no harm in that and its not like it should be avoided at all costs but like you said there is alot of variables to consider as well as the CSO and ISO itself. I was using a 16GB MSPD at the time so i'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Also I tested out a 16GB MicroSD in a MSPD adapter by just watching 1 video, boot up MoonShell and listen to music. My findings was that it works just as well as an actual MSPD but when booting up a video, game/app and start up it was a little slower than the MSPD, I would do a speed test but I don't have an app for that.

You use Moonshell for multimedia? :creep: (It's really only "good" on the DS, he's only recently releaed Moonshell for the PSP, for now I'm staying with other homebrews)

In any case, the read/write speeds of adapters are lower however at the right settings the experience may be just as lagless as on normal MSPD's, and considering the price of SD's nowadays I think it's quite a good choice. I'd recommend faster and more expensive MSPD's only to power users and purists.

And yeah, CSO is obviously not "the damned format", it's just that it may cause unexpected issues and if you have the storage space available then you should opt not to use it, especially when it affects overall performance.

I know its better on the DS but its icon is so cute I can't help but keep it, yea i'm weird like that.

No argument there although i'm just 1 in many opinions.

It might and i'm actually running low on space and i'm trying to find ways to save it honestly so i'm opting to use CSOs over ISOs not because i'm an idiot or stupid but i'm a bit low on space at the moment and in a few months there is gonna be more games I want to to play so i'm probably gonna have no space left.

I have the exact same issue on both the PSP and the DS. I usually play only 1-2 games on a daily basis at a time and yet I always have to load up a zillion of games on both consoles just to have "variety" that I don't really "use" at the end of the day lol.

Lol yea it happens to the best of us. I ended up having to use a spare USB to store PSP games and apps I don't currently use btw what games you got on your PSP?

At the moment it's S.O.C.O.M Fireteam Bravo 3, Assassins Creed: Bloodlines, Wipeout Pulse, Lord of Arcana, Valkyria Chronicles II, Persona 3 Portable, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, (PSX) Diablo, Patapon, Sonic Rivals, Angry Birds, plus (SegaCD) Snatcher and Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core which I recently finished and need to put back onto my HDD.

For what it's worth, my opinion would be to go with the adapter. In my experience, I had no lag issues with emulators, multimedia and games at all. The only issue I encountered is that depending on where you buy the adapter from, they can be extremely cheaply made. But then again, the ones I bought are 5 cents each and therefore aren't a big deal to by replacements for or in bulk for that matter.
