I have a 4.1u wii with preloader installed and cfg loader i moved the wii to another room and turned it on and cfg errored out so I restarted the wii now it comes on instantly drive light come on soon as u press the on button (and stays on) and thats it. I almost seems like it coming out of standby or something. it's a boot 2 wii with bootmii and preloader installed, but as soon as you hit the power bam it turns on no delay or nothing so I can't get it into bootmii or preloader to start anyone have any ideas? or is it a brick?

...are you sure you connected it right? Just moving your Wii from one spot to another wouldn't magically "brick" it unless you've got some wicked levels of radiation in that room.

Disconnect it, remove any memory card or SD card you may have in your Wii, wait for aprox. 5 minutes, re-connect the Wii, press power (just once) and hold down the RESET button. If all goes well, Priiloader's screen should pop up.

yes its a boot 2 wii but as soon as u press the power bam the drive light comes on thats it so I can even get into bootmii, the old wii may be a brick which wouldn't be so bad it I had actually done something to it but to brick it moving it kind of sucks..

Are you using component cables. I had a problem once with component cables. I had to use the normal cables, change a setting and then it worked. My Wii was loading up, I just couldnt see anything...

Before you try all this, check if the Wii will work with the TV you used it with previously...

Unplug the Wii, remove the internal battery, put it back in, retry. Doesn't work?

Get a gamecube controller, remove the faceplate, remove the D-Pad, connect the controller to Port 4, put a disc with an update on it into your Wii, power up the Wii while pressing all 4 directions on the Pad. It should install the update (no progress bar, just wait for it). (SaveMii Exploit) Doesn't work?

Do the same with Port 1. Doesn't work?

I'm out of ideas.

SaveMii will boot the bastard into Install Mode even if it's completely dead, or at least it should.

Try opening the wii. Disconnect the dvd drive and see it the wii boots. Check the bt module and wifi module, make sure there seated properly. When you dropped it, how hard did it fall? A faulty drive would give error while usbloading, perhaps the wire is loss or it is just old.

oh i never droped it. I just orderd a few blue tooth chips to have some extra and in a month when I get them i'll take it apart again and replace it. The wii is I would say a release day one or very close bought it for $40 over 1 1/2 years ago so not worring to much about it. I just liked it because it was an old boot 2 wii and was my testing one before I put anything on the newer wii's. Nobody here games on them anyway there all just used for netfix and wiimc, even had the bbciplayer on it at one time too

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
