That was a different file I downloaded after I downloaded the game, if it was on the disc, it would be much, much, much smaller in file size.

The same is said with the Xbox 360 version

Let me rephrase that, then.

Most of the DLC content was on the disc.

All that proves is that the game had some voice files and models, but not a completed version of the DLC, therefor the DLC was finished after the game went gold.
Hold on a moment.

Isn't 'therefore' used to introduce a logical conclusion? From cause to effect? Because I don't really see that in your post.

Oh wait, you said 'therefor', not 'therefore'. Therefor is an archaic or legal term that means 'for that'. I guess you're just spouting gibberish then.

If you bend over any farther for Bioware you'll be able to see them as they take you for all you're worth, prison style.
But hell if you enjoy paying extra for content you're entitled to with the initial purchase, be my guest.
mmmm oh yeah, right there Bioware.
That's the spot

Woah buddy take it outside.
Ah now I see, you're a child, that's why you complain about 10 dollar DLC.

And to think, people think Call of Duty is much better.

Anyways, I'm glad to see this game doing well. I want to pick it up, but I don't want to get it on PC like I did Mass Effect 2. It's running on the same engine as the first mass effect, which isn't a bad thing as that game still looks 100x better than 98% of games, but if it's using the same engine, does that mean that the load times aren't that bad?

the load times are ridiculously quick on PC I don't even have time to read the text on the loading screen. ME2 had long loading time as it had preset animations that kept on going even though the level was already loaded, ME well elevators have never been fast. If you don't like origin the legit game works great with a crack and you can get all the pre-order dlc with hacked file.

If you disagree with me, you are underaged. Clearly, I know more about your age than you do and and if you contest this, you are lying.

Yes, yes.

And disagreeing with the other is clearly a mark of taking it up the ass from Bioware?

Logical fallacies abound, batman!

I bought the game at launch and am not surprisd by the numbers, it's a great game. I would love to see how many of these bought the day 1 DLC that is complete on the disc. I won't be buying it due to principle.

This guy pretty much sums up how I and I think the majority of gamers feel about DLC:

The SFXT scenario is hilarious and if we all don't start to do something about this it is only going to get worse.

Preordered this game through Amazon, and I must say the extra content is pretty much useless, but that's not the reason why I chose Amazon anyway....
When a game is as good as the Mass Effect series I welcome DLC... we're not talking Gotham City Imposters/SFXTekken DLC here anyway.. ME2 had 4 main pieces of DLC, each providing a good couple of hours extra gameplay..... this is 'good' DLC!

Great to hear about the sales, I've been a huge fan since wasting probably 3 hours of my life going up and down elevators in ME1 lol, and ME2 is easily one of the greatest games of all time in my opinion.... 4 hours into this, loving it (jury's out whether it's as good as ME2, will save judgement until I've completed it) and enjoying the multiplayer bit (though that's a side dish really!) - cannot wait to see how it all ends - might pull a sickie next week haha - and when it does end, I'll most likely start again with my second save where everyone (bar Ashley ME1) survived/different choices made.... life is good!! :D

...And I got the standard version, didn't give a shit about the DLC, and still don't. Maybe I'll buy it on sale but the game is absolutely fantastic on its own merits.

So yeah, is it retarded to have day-one DLC? Yeah. Do I actually give a crap? No.

And Mass Effect (well, since 2 at least) has generally had pretty good DLC. I haven't tried any of the ME2 DLC but apparently it's all very good.

I agree, it's not really like you have to buy it. I know I won't :P

This.
You know before buying it that you are buying the game and the game alone. Do you complain about sequels because you don't get them for free after buying the first game?!
No matter if the dlc is made at the same time as the game, or if it's made a year later, it's still a separate product. And it brings in a really nice bit of revenue for the developer. They probably receive more per dlc purchase than they do per game purchase (considering they only get about 10% of the retail price).
dlc is for the hardcore who just want more more more. I'm happy about dlc, it's there as an option for me if I play a game I really love. And also because it really helps out the developer by cutting out the greedy publishers and retailers. You're no more entitled to mass effect dlc than you are to Star Wars The Old Republic. Separate products, with a separate budget, and a separate revenue stream.

Except it doesn't work that way. If I'm buying a game that has additional content, on the disc itself (or mostly, in this case) mind you, I feel I should be entitled to it. I paid for the disc, why can't I access all of the content on it? Despite there being an extra 600mb for this particular content, they should have just included the DLC with the game in the first place. And don't go telling me "They couldn't!!! They didn't have time!!!!" Bullshit.

Also, game developers don't make $6 per game, that'd be ridiculous. They make more than that. They sell a certain quantity to a game distributor for a certain amount, that can be from $30-$40 per game disc, then the distributor sells the game for slightly more, so that they can make a profit as well.

EDIT: While I'm not saying the game is bad because of it, just that there is a reason people get into a hissyfit over day one DLC.

I love the game (obviously), and am planning on playing through it a 3rd time (yep, beat it twice) after I finished ME1, fix some mistakes, finish ME2 and fix some mistakes, therefore I have the perfect story lined up for ME3.

You're really missing the point aren't you? It's not about having time, it's that the developer would not have had the money to make additional content if they didn't have the additional revenue that the content brings. So for the most part it's not feasible for the developers to "included the DLC with the game", as without the money from dlc, there is no dlc!

Also, in the privacy of your own home you can do whatever you want with the content on that disc. So if you find a way to access that without downloading any additional copyrighted material, then that's perfectly legal. However from what i've heard, it would be impossible impossible in this case without pirating the content of the additional small download that's needed to play the additional content. But for example if someone wrote a patch to make the horse armour available in oblivion, then legally they can do that as you do have a right to the content on the disc. But in this case, the content on the disc is incomplete anyway.

And on your last point about the developer money, here's a breakdown of it, from industry insiders. I suggest you read this to see truly how important dlc can be to some developers

EA says the content on disc isn't the actual content, the "600+ MB" download contains a lot of the key content (such as dialogue, costumes, weapons, the character, Eden Prime mission, etc etc).

Their statement:

"From Ashes is a 600 MB+ download with all new content, including the mission on Eden Prime, new dialogue options and conversations with Javik, new cinematics, the Prothean weapon, and new appearances for all squad members. All of the above content was completed while the main game was in certification and are not available on the disc.

"As stated previously, in order to seamlessly integrate Javik into the core campaign, certain framework elements and character models needed to be put on disc. We did something similar with Zaeed and Kasumi in Mass Effect 2."
