It's from the Apple event.

Source: http://live.ubergizmo.com/us/

Not A6... :/

So... Apple needs more CPU and GPU processing power. the A5X chip has a new GPU with "quad-core graphics". 4X the performance of the A5 chip in terms of graphics -- and Apple says that this is 4X the performance of Tegra 3.

Mar 7, 10:27 PT
264 pixels per inch... more than what your 1080p HD TV has, and basically as sharp as an iPhone (more or less). It's also 4X the number of pixels than iPad/2 has.

Lesser impactful info include a 5 megapixel snapper and 1080p video recording. Together with dictation on keyboard.

EDIT: 4G networks CONFIRMED.

10 hour battery life to stay.

Same prices. Starts from $499. 3G/4G versions start from $629.

This is going to be available for order on March 16 (another correct leak) in the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, HK Singapore and Australia.
Apple finally heard Singapore!! LOL. Only now they know so many Singaporeans bring out iPhones/iPads that they decide to have it at day one international ORDER.

Now Apple is just being silly and playing with the Retina display. That's about it for my crazy editing. Good night. Avoid flaring please. I'm just posting according to the event.

EDIT AGAIN:
Here's a source full of pictures:
http://live.theverge.com/Event/Live_from_Apples_iPad_3_event_in_San_Francisco

And the battery life is 9 hours on 4G networks.

Okay. 3AM now. Night (for real). Avoid flaring.

EDIT EDIT
My phone keeps vibrating >.<

iPad 2 STILL ON SALE. $399. 16GB WiFi

Oh yeah, sure. The A5X chip also has a jet fighter plane, coffee machine and blowjobs dispenser built-in. Benchmarks or GTFO, seriously. 5 times the performance of the Tegra3, 4 times the performance of the A5, lol, who made it, Ancient Aliens?

That we have to wait till product launch...

I'm sure A5X is more powerful in some ways but definitely not 4X of whatever.

It would be sensible to assume that it does indeed perform better, but definatelly not 5,4 times better indeed, unless Apple found a massive ore of Unobtainium which they now use as their core material in CPU manufacturing.

Quad-core graphics? My Radeon HD 5770 has 800 cores.

I question this assessment.
Your Radeon HD 5770 has 800 *stream cores* within its core. Practically you have a single GPU, there are cards which have two though, yours isn't one of them as far as I know.

On mobile platforms, rather then increasing the calculation power of cores significantly, companies opt to add extra GPU cores instead as it's a process that requires less R&D while the effect is the same, hence "quad core". ;)

So does that mean legacy iPad applications will look ugly as hell now?
No, because nobody will utilize the horsepower of the iPad 3 until the iPad 4 is ready to be released. The market is saturated with iPad 2's and 1's - developers do not wish to alienate the majority of their clients just because Apple releases a revision of their hardware. Apps will look the same for the most part, they will just work smoother. At least for the next half-a-year or a year.

So it's a quad-GPU and they're just marketing "quad-core" because people like that term?

It's quad-core because those 4 GPU cores are placed on a single piece of silicone and are interlinked with eachother. If it was quad-GPU, you would have four chips present.

Well... there's also the "semi-multi-core" Intel once had where the two cores were placed on the same piece of silicone and worked independently from eachother, effectively being two CPU's in one CPU casing, but that's a "mutant" and it was deprecated.

Well didn't surprise me. "Better processing power and better screens? Well s**t in my pants and call me Shirley!" Gotta love the hype that is surrounding all Apple releases. No matter how good or bad the release is, it's always better than the previous gen. Well as always, it isn't going to take much longer that there is going to "hater's gonna hate!"-additions to this topic.

ps. Sent from my MacBook Pro 15".
pps. B**ch please use a computer for its uses instead of its stats. Mostly stats = bigger e-pen :glare:

I don't think you quite understood?
Older iPad apps will be upscaled to fit the ultra-high resolution retina display, they might look ugly.
iPad 1/2 apps will probably have filters on iPad 3 whilst newer apps will have retina and legacy resolutions.

I think it might backfire though since they will have to start producing needlessly high resolution imagery.

I see what you meant now. Well, we'll see how it goes, really. We don't have to worry about the 3D games - these can just be rendered in the new native resolution. As far as 2D ones are concerned... yeah, there might be issues.

So its heavier and thicker than ipad 2, no mention of ram which still might be 512 ram. Seems like dual core cpu and quadcore gpu.

Was looking forward to ipad 3 but i'll wait for ipad 4

Good news (to some): iPad 2 will get a $100 cut.

According to The Verge, it's likely quad core GPU, dual core CPU.
