I love movies, specially ones that break the mold of what is show in theaters. I'm Hispanic and have always enjoyed "Western" films but I was intrigued by a trailer one day that I happened to stumble upon while I was browsing the interwebz. It's was a trailer for a movie called "Sin Nombre" (I viewed it on Netflix) this movie can be classified as Drama although it is gritty in the best possible way due to the involvement of a Latin American gang. The movie was filled with emotion and suspense. Ever since then I have been getting into Latin American movies.
I however have come upon a film that best depicts the genius of Latin American cinema (Due to the true depictions of real life). The film is called Amores Perros it comes from acclaimed director of Babel and 21 Grams and it also follows the same scheme (different stories that "crash" into one another). It was his first film and I can say it's the best because I have seen all 3 films. The films shows the social classes in Mexico and gives you an look into the lifestyles of each. The stories are emotionally gripping consisting of a lower middle class family in which the younger brother falls in love with his older brother's wife (At first she rejects him but later she realizes how much he cares for her and accepts him), there's a story of a homeless man who was once a revolutionary who failed his vision of creating a peaceful world which in turn separated him from his family and more importantly his daughter whom he loves very much, and finally of wealthy business man who leaves family for a model who he fell for but when a certain event occurs it causes tension in their relationship.
