Nintendo of America will take Kid Icarus: Uprising's multiplayer mode on tour ahead of the game's 23rd March release with a nationwide tournament.
GameStop stores in San Francisco, Orlando, Los Angeles and New York will play host to Nintendo-run multiplayer tournaments, with winners from each area in the running for exclusive Kid Icarus prizes and a trip to New York to compete in the national final.
8th March: San Francisco, CA
11th March: Orlando, FL
15th March: Los Angeles, CA
22nd March: New York, NY

Those who attend the New York final will also be able to buy the game, a full 24 hours before its official release.

This makes me wonder if they will release a demo as a sort of way to get the controls down before hand. Doubt it though.
a 3ds demo with multiplayer? then people will actually have a reason to cry about the 10 game tries

also i second frogboy, they need to give the winner team a free copy with some kind of unique trophy ingame so they can be recognized by the community

No a demo that lets players get use to controlling the game, also you get 30 tries not 10.

the multiplayer looks way different than the single player...

also that depends on the game, nintendogs had 10 tries and i heard a Japanese demo had only 3 runs (ace combat or something)

It's called "single player".

If it's really significantly different then I doubt the online population will instantly be crowded with overpowered gods of gaming when you start. It's a learning curve, every multiplayer game has it, it's just a matter of if you want to stick with it until you're over that curve or if you're too easily frustrated and end up marking your 3DS into a 3 piece DS.

the guy (i dunno his name makahashiro? or sumthing) himself said in his interview with iwata that there are checks to overskilled people with overpowered weapons that they have implemented in the online, like your team loses more hp if your teammate dies with a stronger weapon and alos items and stuff,
the only advantage these tournament people will have over everyone else is that they are getting a single day head start over others and that's probably it
