“[WiiWare's] 40MB is horrible, but [3DS's] 2GB is reasonable. Super Meat Boy would have been on WiiWare if we could have had just a few more megabytes of space – you can only compress stuff so much before you have to start cutting out huge parts of your game. Unfortunately, at that point, it just isn’t worth the time.”

“If we can in the future, we’d like our next game to be on Wii U as well as everything else.”

2GB is great. I'm not really surprised as Nintendo did say that the 3DS/eShop already had the infrastructure to launch full retail games.

didnt their new game suck
nah, binding of isaac is pretty fun. most of the people who say it sucks just don't understand that it's a roguelike game.

Their last game was Super Meat Boy (Which didn't suck) but if you're talking about Edmund Mcmillen's "The Binding of Isaac" then that game was decent but not bad. Some people seem to think it sucked but I felt Isaac was pretty good.

People disliked Isaac for how hard and random the game could be. Basically anyone unfamiliar with a rouge like would be pissed with it.

Makes me wonder if the eShop could evolve to the point where retail DS and 3DS titles become available for download in their entirety.
I mean, some games would be perfect in that situation such as Animal Crossing Wild World.

Not "THEIR" game, but Binding of Isaac did suck, it was a terrible game. And to the other people who are saying "a lot of people hate it because of blah blah blah", I like rogue like games, but Isaac was just too horrible. Crap controls, repetitive music and enemies, it was bland and a total incomplete mess.

This would be awesome. All they need to do is improve the eShop download managing, and increase the 2GB limit. Not to mention it'd be cheaper and more enviromentally friendly.

That's assuming that Nintendo will take their next game; I remember reading a while back that they were getting iffy about ports of Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac to one of their systems (the 3DS, I think).

Still, at the very least, it's good to see that Nintendo is finally giving digital distribution more attention.

Best way to put it. If it has a 2GB filesize limit, doesn't that already mean you could download an entire NDS image? Most games are between 8MB and 256MB, so if they got their source code compiled and optimized for the 3DS, they could re-release NDS games on the 3DS. The cost would also be cheaper because they don't have to make a chip for the game, they don't have to print manuals (That can be put in an instructions file accessible from the main menu), they don't have to produce card cases and boxes, and they don't have to ship them. It'd be a good idea.

*Looks at VirtualConsole*

Yes, let's dream. Dream of the day it happens, because it's happened before with older systems. I definitely see this as a possibility.

How much internal space does a 3DS have?

but more on topic....Super Meat Boy on the 3DS would be so freaking awesome!!!!

Darn I read it here like yesterday. I think it was 2 gigs of internal memory. But stuff like that would be saved to an SD card. So I would just go get an 8 or a 16 or something and not have worry about how much space stuff would take up, as long as it is actually 3DS software you're downloading.. Hell though, even the 2 gig card that the 3DS ships with is ample for quite a while. I do wish that DSiWare could be launched from the SD though :\

Hopefully Nintendo will implement this function soon as I am looking forward to buying full retail JPN games from the JPN eShop! It is much more simple than importing from JPN as there is no waiting time & I presume it would also be much cheaper since they don't need a packaging or hardware!

2GB is enough for even some 3DS software.

I believe the capacity will increase with the true implementation of Nintendo Network.

To the whole Binding of Isaac thing... Binding of Isaac is just one of those games that you either love or hate, and no real inbetween. Going out of your way to tell people their opinion on that is wrong is as pointless as telling someone obsessed with StarFox that StarFox Adventures was actually a decent game.

Anyways, so happy to hear this, can't wait.
