Just have a couple of questions for people who own the vita and i know i could google them but i think forums users will be a bit more open to niggling issues than reviews of the system from magazines and such places would notice.

1) Does the vita come with many in-built games that you can play and if so are they any good?

2) When you hold the system do you find yourself accidently hitting the back touchscreen? (I have quite big hands and on my psp my fingers rest along the back so im just curious if that could be a problem for me)

3) Does it connect to the pc easy like the psp does? Also how is the file transfer like for music and pictures?

4) What memory cards are used? Is it the same as the psp ones or are they brand new and i have to spend more money to get one?

5) When is littlebigplanet out?

3) it uses a rubbish content manager, which needs internet to operate. can crack not to need internet, Opencma or whatever it was called, check hacking modding forum.

4)it does use its own in some way yet no one knows what better than all the other memory card on the market. So yeah extra green spent here.

5)i think you can play littlebigplanet on it from vita's psp emulator, get it from market, dunno about the price.

and i am unsure about 1 and 2, still waiting for mine to arrive.

It comes with some basic features (pretty much like any console at launch) like camera, browser, PSN stuff... with chat (includes X-game chat if i'm not wrong and music.) imo, WELCOME PARK IS BORING and it's for those who just started gaming.

2) When you hold the system do you find yourself accidently hitting the back touchscreen? (I have quite big hands and on my psp my fingers rest along the back so im just curious if that could be a problem for me)
Sometimes yes. I have huge hands and sometimes they slip off the holders. Luckily it doesn't affect too much.

3) Does it connect to the pc easy like the psp does? Also how is the file transfer like for music and pictures?
Can't answer cuz I haven't connected it yet. I have my iPhone for music and photos. :x

4) What memory cards are used? Is it the same as the psp ones or are they brand new and i have to spend more money to get one?
Proprietary format. It's different from the PSP ones and exclusive to the PS Vita. I cannot answer the final part because I got my Vita as a gift.

5) When is littlebigplanet out?
TBA.
Well, hope that helps... a little.

I can answer #3 and #5.

3.) The content manager is decent for file transfers between both the PC and PS3 to and from the Vita. The transfer speeds from Vita to PC and vice versa depend on your PC. If you have an older PC it's going to take a while.

5.) According to a card that was in the same package as the AR Cards in the Vita box, LittleBigPlanet is coming April 2012.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think i will get one but i wanna wait till littlebigplanet is out, it gives me time to save up a bit more money to be able to buy a decent sized memory card plus, LBP is the game that looks the best reason to get one (with the online the psp version should of had) and april isnt too far away if that card was accurate so yeah!
Enjoy playing your vita's and ill join you in 2months or so! :D

To clear up the backscreen thing... I game with my hands on the back touch panel, and even games that support it's use, usually do so conditionally.

For example, Katamari Damacy only reacts when it detects you moving your hands moving together or apart (to stretch and squish the katamari). So while my hands are always on it, it never reacts unless I'm intentionally TRYING to use the feature.

This may be different for different games since I've by no means played them all yet, but it should be pretty much common practice (the games can tell the difference between you having your hands on it like you're holding the system, and when you have your fingers in certain positions to try and manipulate controls)

That's not necessarily true. Some games like FIFA think you're registering a kicking motion if you even touch the rear touch pad. Luckily there's an option to turn it off, but not all games will allow it to be turned off. It's pretty sensitive. Only in games like Touch My Katamari where it requires special movements to be used will it not register if you just place your hands there.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.

    That sounds really cool
