So I put a bunch of youtube videos on my 3DS and they are kind of all just jumbled into a folder in random order. Is there anyway to separate them into separate folders, or change the order of them at all? Any kind of tips or help would be appreciated.

There is no way to organize photo's or videos in the 3DS camera, other than date. That does mean however that, if you change the date of the videos to 1 january 2000 or something similar, that they all will appear at the beginning of your list.

Not yet. the 3DS does not use the timestamp of the file to determine the recorded date, but a file headed (data within the file itself). Nobody has tried very hard to figure this data out, mainly because getting the videos to show and play is good enough for most people.
I don't see anyone being in any sort of hurry to figure out this info.

Because .MPO and .AVI are standard formats used by multiple devices, and not the 3DS only, we already know about the so-called "metadata" in wich things like the resolution, possibly the author of the file and also the timestamp are saved. There are programs that let you easily edit those fields. On top of that, I believe that even ffmpeg is able to read/write the date of the video.

Having the same problem. I have clips of different vids that need to be played in proper order. Being able to change the date would allow me to sort them. They should've at least included the ability to see the file name of each clip. :(

Edit: so you can change the 3ds folder date? Please tell me how.

best advice is to copy videos one by one IN THE ORDER you want it to appear. i can say for sure that if you do this, assuming the videos are recognized by the 3DS (some videos don't show up, dunno why), the videos will appear in the order you want them to. it's a hassle, but there's no real workaround for it yet.

you can also select a buncha files (best way is to use list view or details view instead of the icons and sort them alphabetically), and then Rclick the FIRST FILE IN THE SERIES, not anywhere in the selection. this will ensure that the OS copies the files IN ORDER -- confirm it by watching closely if the copy dialog is copying them in order. you'll know you did it right when you confirm the order of the thumbnails on the 3DS with the order of the thumbnails on your PC. but sometimes, they take different frames for thumbnails, i think Windows uses a frame that's a few seconds into the movie, while the 3DS uses the very first frame. this can make comparison confusing.

thanks for the answers, no one on gamefaqs even posted when I asked this there. hopefully they update this kind of stuff in the future. for now I guess it doesn't matter, just having the video on there is enough, but custom folders and being able to see the file names would be awesome. I'll get a vita eventually when it's cheaper, the media playing stuff is less hassle, but this will do for now.
