Ok so i decided to hack my wii.
I have a few questions:

1. Is it safe to hack it?

2.Can i use Kingmax SD card 2GB?

3. How many games can i put on 2gb memory card?

I've read the softmod guide but i will need more help.

PS: Kingmax SD card is the only i can buy atm and its very cheap.

2. no idea, probably yes
3. ~1 (more if they are small, most not at all)

use a hard disk instead

1. I would consider it as safe as possible , if you were to remove human error and hardware failure from the equation its flawless.
2. Idont see any reason why not as long as you format it correctly.
3. Well depends on the type of game , if you refer to wii backups then as many as 3 or as little as none depends on the game and filesize (obviously) .

I suggest you familiarise yourself with modmii , download it and run its wizard and answer the questions it throws at you and study the generated help file it creates until your confident you can acheive its requests and suggesgions.

Ok thanks,im really nooby to all these things (own wii 1 year and tired of paying 50eu for every game).

So i should just download Modmii? I dunno how to follow the ''Modify Any Wii'' thread. I will buy SD card in 2 days and i will start hacking.

Im really confused but i will try again and follow the steps of the Modify Any Wii thread.

Checked the bargain bin? Nintendo doesn't reprice their games much, but third parties often do. And so do stores that sell second hand games. :)

Modmii is a program that will download the stuff you need, as well as generate a guide what to do. The modify any wii thread is mostly similar; perhaps a bit more information.

It's not unusual to be a bit confused at the start: you're new to things. Just be calm, read about what things do and why you should (or shouldn't) be doing.

I second Psyblade's suggestion to get a USB hard disk. Wii disks are about 4GB each (some even 8). The game data on it depends, but most require more space than a 2GB drive. Here's a link with compatible drives (note: this is a bit outdated: compatibility may be better than this).

Yeah , i as do lots of others run their backups from a usb Hdd and no , you need the SD card. Best using a good quality correctly formatted SD card.

I must say i am as nooby as you or should i say a month or two further down the nooby path , and if you do as your doing and read up on the subject , i beleive youl be ok , im not familiar with other guides on this subject as for me Modmii seems the most well supported and user friendly method there is , as it gives you the files you need and the steps you need dependant on your wii setup(i.e the questions your asked upon running Modmii) . With a half educated brain and the patience to follow a simple guide you really cannot go wrong . If in doubt ASK and dont assume nothing ... if i have observed anything over these forums its errors are mainly down to peoples assuptions and haste to get it done , be patient man .. good luck.

Naaah. It's a fairy tale. I mean...just because some guide mentions it...and Psyblade mentioned it...and I mentioned it myself...that doesn't automatically mean it's true, right?

Seriously: just read it and follow it. Modmii is a serious guide with lots of effort and time in it. If it says something, you can bet your ass it's true.

Just so that they know they have a recent one so if they somehow have a catastrophic failure that things can be restored back with recent save games, and also just so the person knows that they have one instead of the other people that just happen to somehow 'lose it'.

In most cases, even if I only have the keys I can restore a wii to working order with save games and channels still in tact. But a few times I've gotten a wii that someone had 'accidentally' run comex's nand formatter, and the only thing that I had was the nand dump made a year prior and the person is stuck losing a years worth of progress in games.

Oh so its just for convience... I thought there was something with bootmii@ios that could make old nand backups not working (yeye it was silly thought i know).
But even so, apart from losing the backups, surely its faster to just take backups of the saves? I at least would like to restore a as clean as possible nand, should my Wii ever need a nand restore. But thats probably just me :O

Yeah, it may be faster at the moment to backup the save games, but after a repair it can take a lot longer to install all the save games because you have to make sure that the game was run at least once before you can install the savegame.
