Activision have announced a sequel to their Skylanders Spyro's Adventure IP, which is a new take on the Spyro franchise featuring a more darker and less vocal Spyro. The next instalment, titled 'Skylanders Giants' promises to feature new characters, challenges, a story-driven adventure and much more.
Like the previous entry, there will also be collectible figures which you can purchase and use in your game to unlock new characters, powers and missions.

Here's a taster of what the new game is set to offer players:
"Going Big: Skylanders Giants introduces eight new highly collectible figures that are more than twice the size of the main skylanders cast in both physical and virtual form. Their in-game powers and abilities reflect their colossal scale.
Bright Lights: Helping to further the real world magic of bringing toys to life, Skylanders Giants includes a set of characters that feature spectacular new light technology integrated into the toys, allowing the figure to light up when near or on the Portal of Power™. These characters have additional in-game benefits as well. Batteries are not required.
Brand New Skylanders: Eight new regular sized skylanders, each with their own unique powers, abilities, and personality, join the adventure alongside the Giants.
Forward Compatibility: Every beloved character from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is 100% compatible with Skylanders Giants, leveled-up stats and customizations intact.
Wider Worlds: Portal Masters will see all new arenas and more gameplay options in Battle Mode for exciting head-to-head play, as well as enhanced Elemental Zones, new Hero Challenges, and other features that encourage players to collect and level up every character."

No word on platforms yet but the game will most likely be multi-platform like its predecessor. It has a current release date of 'fall' this year.

This is absolute shit, the older Spyro games were good but Skylanders and this + a few other aren't worth it. Just milking the, what should remain dead, Spyro series.

Well I just hope that this one won't be short like the 3ds version I fricken wasted my money on the game
and finished it in 8 hours . Sakura Samurai art of the sword was 10X cheaper and 10X better.

STOP RUINING SPYRO.

Unfortunately you can only hit the Like button once.

Seeing Spyro games nowadays is like seeing Keith Richards at a Rolling Stones concert. He died long ago but they basically just propped up his corpse like a Chuck E Cheese machination to get more money.

Also I'm pretty sure everyone said Skylanders was decent but the toy mechanic pooped on it. I mean not only did you spend like $50-$60 on the game and more money on the toys, now you have to buy another game with more toys.

And people complain about CoD ripping us off.

Oh great. More useless figures for a stupid gimmick.
I mean, what the hell IS that thing? You look really stupid playing a game, and a figurine is sitting in front of you.

I cant believe Skylanders 1 was successful. The stages reminded me of sholvelware ds games and the story was way too simple (defeat Chaos and safe Skylands - No spyro story at all). This is turning the same way as Rayman Ravin Rabbids.
Thank you Activision, for ruining my childhood once more :nayps3:

I cannot belive anyone over 12 would buy this game.

Well I remember when it was first announced some of the "older generation" were like "HOLY SHIT SPYROS ALIVE." Then the whole "it uses toys" thing kinda killed everyone's hopes. Also the title isn't even "Spyro the Dragon" or "Spyro" anymore, now it's "Skylanders" with Spyro taking a backseat in the subtitle. Now it's just "Skylanders: Giants".

In all reality though it'll be hard to forgive Activision for what they've done to Spyro. At least Crash Bandicoot can properly be announced as dead. He had a few releases somewhat recently but nothing since then. Spyro though, keeping him alive is like killing my childhood and ruining arguably the best 3D platformers ever made (sorry Mario but I really fucking love Spyro, Super Mario Galaxy might beat Spyro 3 in some aspects though).

I have played every Spyro except Skylanders as it looks like complete bullshit, they are only using it to milk the last piece of revenue they can from a series that should have ended years ago.
