During the International Film Festival Rotterdam, news of a localized release for Takashi Miike's Ace Attorney adaptation came from a reliable source: Takashi Miike himself. At a Q&A following a showing of the film, Miike announced that a worldwide release was planned.

According to Twitchfilm, each version would have both dubbed and subtitled dialogue using the character names from that region's version of the games. So Miles Edgeworth, et al. in America, but ... Benjamin Hunter in France.

Now that we have admissible evidence that we'll be able to see the movie, how is it? "This is definitely a love-it or hate-it affair, and if you don't dig the silly caricature tongue-in-cheek atmosphere which inhabits the universe of 'Ace Attorney,' you will tire of the film way before its halfway point has been reached," Twitchfilm said. "But if you DO have fun with it, this is the fastest way to spend almost two and a half hours."

So many good news for Ace Attorney fans lately.

Dubs? Who said anything about dubs?

If this won't be direct-to-DVD and targeted specifically at the fans then it will spectacularily fail.

No offense, but from what I've seen so-far, the movie has absolutely nothing to offer to people who did not play the game, really.

Well who else would it be targeted at?

And of course it'll be direct to DVD. Nobody in their right minds would air this in American theatres.

Unless it was someone who had a lot of money to waste and then aired this for the lulz.

In all seriousness, I'm glad it's coming over. I just hope Netflix gets it so I don't have to buy it, and even better, I can watch it on my 3DS without any conversion necessary.

Oh, I'm not so sure. Remember that America is the land of "Troll" and other breathtaking B-Class movies. As far as marketing, I suppose that if they were able to find a person who lived under a rock for the last 10 years it's entirely possible that they could pass it as a standard "court case drama", and if that were the case, the movie yet again would only be enjoyed by a limited audience who actually knows what's going on better then the distributor.

It's an entirely believable scenario. ;P

Tim and Eric is coming to theaters. There's definitely a possibility that this could be all over the silver screen.

is there a bigfoot in the movie!?
because i can certainly see a furry d**k in the top left corner  .

it would be hard for me to look at that phoenix because he didnt look asian at all in the games
Well in the localization he isn't. Phoenix Wright is American (supposedly), but Ryuchichi Naruhodo is Japanese, since the games take place in the respective countries.
