Now I'd say I've been gaming since I was maybe 4 years old; sat on my dad's lap while he played DOOM when I was 2. I play pretty much anything I can get my hands on, save for sports games and shovelware, and usually have a nice session playing games almost everyday. I ALWAYS find the time. I own every major home console system save for the pre-NES stuff and the Saturn (I could actually get a Saturn right now at my local Disc Replay, there's just no games for it unless I look online... Probably the reason it's still there after months), and most handhelds. I also modded every system I own except my 360 and everything before the PS2 (PS1 was modded too but it's stopped reading discs). This has made me the "go-to-guy" for mods and computer-related stuff within my various branches of friends.

But I've been wondering lately; is this too much? Gaming is certainly not the only thing I do in my life, I HATE staying couped up in the house for too long and I hang with friends often, and I attend college regularly. But it IS what I do the most, and I feel like I've been doing it for about 90% of my nolife. Do you guys feel like a gaming habit like mine is a bit much, or am I fine?

This is my game layout in my bedroom:

I've also got an SDTV right next to my entertainment center, sitting on a stand/shelf that has my SNES, N64, and Dreamcast on top, with my NES, PS1, and old games in a cabinet below it.

I have that EXACT same TV stand.

I see nothing wrong with gaming as a way of life. Frankly, if you enjoy it, why regret it. Your life is for you to enjoy.

I love your room, man. Absolutely rad. I also like the fact that you have numerous consoles connected at once - I usually have to run back and forth in search of cables to connect specific ones when I want to play them.

Gotta get splitters, lots of spitters...

Awesome. I try not to let it become top priority when there's other things that are important, as that HAS happened before and the results weren't pretty. If anything, it's a huge hobby.

its a nice collection, just a little messy to me

maybe get a bookshelf (I know they sell media shelves but unless you have a ton of money to spend you are getting fiber board and a fraction of the storage space) and put all the game cases, should give you more room to space the systems out
extra controllers, unless you use them all the time then they could be put away some where else

I've actually been wanting to get some shelves for a while now; there just doesn't seem to be enough room in my........ Room, though. That, and my budget's kinda limited. :P At the moment, aside from the monthly game release, I'm saving up for a new desktop for PC gaming and hardcore emulation, like fullspeed 720p Wii games on my TV through HDMI using Dolphin.

Instead of having that game rack on the left side, you can get a bookshelf and stick all your games (including the ones under the TV) in the bookshelf. With the extra space you free up on the bottom of the TV stand, you can redistribute the consoles so they don't look all cramped together (especially on the top shelf).

Get charging docks for each console's controllers and put the chargers in the bookshelf too. Or you an put all the charging docks on the bottom shelf of the TV stand once the games are cleared out of there.

Put the PS2 in the center so that you can sit directly in front of the TV without having the cord slant off to the right side. It'll give you a few more inches to sit back from the TV.

Lose the extra PS3. If you keep the old one around because it's one of those early ones that was backwards-compatible with PS2, then lose the PS2 so you'll have a totally wireless entertainment system. I would also say to get rid of the slim PS3 if the older one is BC, but I don't know if you've paid for DLC on the two different systems. If that were the case, it would be nice if there were a way to transfer all the DLC from one PS3 to the other and have it all on one system.

But yeah, pretty awesome collection you have there, man! :)

I actually have my PS2 on the right side so it'll be closest to my SDTV. Gaming with it on my HDTV tends to look like ass, which is one reason why I've got the backwards-compatible PS3. My PS2 is also softmodded with FreeMcBoot, and has an internal 120GB HDD for a collection of games and OpenPS2Loader.

As for the TWO PS3s, my slim is modded with CFW 3.55 Rebug. So I use the fat PS3 for all of my store bought games and PSN access.

And as for your other advice, that's a great idea. I just need to shell out the money for a nice bookshelf, unless my dad wants to give me one of his. And thanks!

My setup is kinda similar, lol, but takes up half the space of yours.

Softmodded Xbox
Stock 360
Softmodded Wii
Softmodded PS2
My Minecraft server (see my link in my sig) inside of a NES shell
My computer

all hooked to a 5.1 Yamaha home theater, which directs output to my 26" TV which is also hooked to my PC along with a 21" monitor.

PC emulates a ton of older stuff now, including the Wii (idk why I am doing that). Got my Genesis, N64, and brother's Gamecube sitting in a box behind me waiting to be put in my closet since they're all emulated now.

I too have this problem, a bookshelf is without a doubt the way to go.
I need another one though, these are stacked two thick as it is.

Nice. Atm I'm satisfied with that "TrueHD Surround" crap my TV pulls off. And with games like Skyrim, I tend to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI. I like keeping my old systems setup mainly as a way to experience nostalgia if I don't feel like emulating, and to show off. :P

@ Densetsu: I need to come across good sales like that.

@ LOL, that thing's stuffed.. At least you have a bookshelf though. I've actually still got some games laying around without a proper place to put them.
