Hacking Cant get any WBFS manager on Linux or Wine to work with partition...

Okay..

So I'm nearly at the point of wanting to chuck my Wii and my computer out of the window. I've spent multiple hours trying to get multiple different WBFS managers to work for Linux.. Some will load the games onto it, some wont and end up crashing, some will format the partition into wbfs - some will format it into FAT32 with a folder in it called "WBFS" (which is readable by the Wii, but havent been able to get my games working) -

So seems how people don't really want to put out a good enough tutorial or extensive enough one to cover Linux users,

I'm here complaining because I feel almost lost with this. Some of you don't seem to understand ​I HAVE NO WINDOWS COMPUTER...​

When I try to extract games from my old wbfs partition with ​Wilmms wbfs​ it gave me "Error, not a valid wbfs partition" and now that I actually used the ​Wii backup manager build 78​ from ​wiibackupmanager.tk​ the thing doesnt even read my wbfs partition as being a real partition at all - doesnt even load the list of games unless i only use the Wii Backup Manager - I've tried pointing the Wilmms tool to the directory where all my wbfs games are, but it still wont read it. If I can express myself openly, I'm pretty upset that there seems to be such a lack of actually good and working Wii Backup Managers for Linux - do people not see that WINE doesn't exactly work like its supposed to? And nobody bothers to put up a tutorial for how to use any of these programs through WINE.. so I feel honestly like this gaming community has no idea what to do when it comes to Linux users, either that or everyone is just being silent as I'm sitting here busting my butt on trying to learn on how to do all of this.

Yes it doesnt extract any games

Format your drive to FAT32, make a folder called WBFS, and use games with .wbfs file extension.

Hi, when I did that and I plugged it into USBLoader GX it said "Warning: you are trying to select a fat32/ntfs/ext partition with cIOS 249 Rev < 18. This is not supported" what do I do in that state?

Maybe you could update your wii cios? cIOS 249 and 250 are now on revision 21 dx7 or 21 dx8. It looks like your revision is older than revision 18.
Maybe the reason you can't find a Wii Backup Manager that works decent on linux is because fat 32, and even ext2 and ext3 partitions also work fine these days.
Those partitions are natively accessible by your pc.
I don't know how well modmii works on wine, but you should give it a try.
It will give you up to date information to mod your wii to a more actual state. If you formatted your wbfs partition once to fat32, than the games on it will be gone. Also note that there are no tools on the market to fix a damaged wbfs partition (not even for windows). You will probably need to rip your games again.

I mainly use linux, so I think I can help.

To use a loader with fat/ntfs/ext you need a recent cIOS. As the message says rev18 or newer (of waninkokos cios - don't know for hermes).
Regardless of the fs you choose I suggest you install d2x instead which is a continuation of waninkoko rev21. (thats what obcd meant too - afaik there is no dx, only d2x)

The only manager I ever used (or wanted to) is wiimms wwt.
I think I can help if you post the errors you get.

What format is your drive in now?
Which format do you want to use? (I suggest fat32)
Are there still games you want to copy first?

I've got a 102GB Fat32 fomatted I just switched to ConfigUSBLoader.

What about programs for loading, converting, and what not with iso files to wbfs?

loading is simply copiing the wbfs files to the fat32 formatted harddisk...
You will need a way to convert iso's to wbfs. I think Wimms tools can do that, and they should exist for linux.
But I am sure PsyBlade can help you further with that.

Already updated it, now I just need to figure out how to convert ISO to wbfs using Wilmms tools.

Just tried the .jar exe - didnt work very well, I'll try running the windows exe.

Just a quick question - is the partition Primary or Extended? Wii's seem to be allergic when it comes to Extended partitions, do change that to Primary when you're creating it. If it is NOT Primary then delete the whole Volume and create a new one in its place.

That's... odd... there shouldn't be any problems with detecting it and transferring files to it then...

Unfortunatelly I don't have a whole lot of experience when it comes to backup managers under Linux, I'm afraid. I would assume that the ones compiled *for Linux* would work...
