Hi all! :)

Recently I've decided to plunge into Nintendo handheld world. At first I wanted to buy 3DS, but there's so many bad opinions about faultiness of this console (bottom screen scratching top one, bad analog stick, woobly top sreen), so maybe it's better to wait for redesigned 3DS lite version? It's inevitable as it was with DS lite and DSi ones being upgrades to original DS system. 3DS is on the market for almost a year now, so the question is how much longer will it take for redesign to appear on the market? I've heard both 3DS zelda and mario bundles have improved bumbers preventing two screens from touchig each-other, but some people say it's still faulty as the black and aqua-blue ones...

Also, I have great oportunity to buy brand new genuine nintendo DSi white system for 90$. It only makes me more confused... All in all, I don't know... DSi is very cheap, but seemes too old, no new games, but huge library of oldschool titles like mario, zelda, etc. On the other hand there's 3DS with negative feedback.

HELP!

if you never played with the ds I'd say go for the dsi, it's cheap and it has a lot of games in its library
personally I'm waiting for a new 3ds model considering the problems it has. if those things doesn't really bother you buy that one instead

I'd say get the 3DS now, trade it in for the lite when the time comes. DSi and 3DS are virtually same price (only £10-£30 difference here for NEW) and 3DS does everything the DSi does but better.

Recently I've decided to plunge into Nintendo handheld world
where have you been!!!!
and i suggest you should get a 3ds, regarding the bumper issues well its pure luck, i bought a flame 3ds recently on dec 3rd and it did have the bumper problem, fortunately i applied screen protecs in time before any damage is done,
you shouldnt get a dsi at this point in time ,
if you buy a 3ds you can run a flashcard and play ds roms pretty easily
but do this if you dont mind the resolutions problems,

At first I wanted to buy 3DS, but there's so many bad opinions about faultiness of this console
i can understand how you feel as even i did some research before buying the 3ds but trust me on this one you WONT regret buying it at all, even i was a bit hesitant as some ppl complained of eye and headaches and shit, but i bought it anyway along with 3 games(sm3dl,mk7,lzot)
so if you do decide to buy a 3ds or dsi then........ well , welcome to the family ! ;)

Depends on you, do you HAVE to own a handheld right now?
if so and you really want to play 3DS games, get the 3DS, and trade it in for a 3DS lite when it comes out, I know plenty of people who did that when the lite came out in 2006.
Though at this rate, I think nintendo is going to be really cautious with the 3ds, and wait a little longer before a redesign

Thank you all for responses :)
So I guess I'll buy ice white 3DS with mario bundle. Hopefully it won't scratch...

The analog is fine, maybe you should find a demo at a Gamestop or something and try it, as people have differing opinions about it.
I keep a screen cleaning cloth between my screens when it's closed. It's an extra step, but at least my screen isn't being damaged. That's the only fault of the system, in my opinion. It shouldn't be getting damaged just for closing the screen.

You shouldn't listen too much to people unless you have tried the system by yourself, either with a Demo model or from a friend.

You'll see that most of the time, people are just bad at taking care of their stuff and complain.

I'am also waiting for the next 3DS remake. It surley will come. With the slide pad onboard and maybe a bigger and/or better screen. I guess it will come out until June 2012.

I don't think they are going to release a new 3DS model anytime soon.
Why?
They have their hands & and money full with Wii U and to get it launched.

DS Lite was released because they was a lot of things with the first DS to improve. (size, light, comfortability, battery etc)
DSi: Bigger screens, camera's, sdcard, improved audio and a ton of other hardware changes plus the completely new software/interface etc.

To think they would spend a ton of money to make a new 3DS so soon to just add a new joystick... I don't think so. And the wobbly top screen is probably a manufacturing flaw.
If the screen is a bit wobbly and the 3ds is closed and the top screen is till able to move a bit, then it's the fault of the wobble that creates the scratches. Fix wobble = fix scratches?

If not it's such a easy way to prevent it by screen protector or microfiber cloth piece.

If they release a new one, it's probably summer 2013 or something like that or even longer.

On the other hand there's 3DS with negative feedback.

That's expected. It's nothing new with any type of technology. Besides, people that have a problem usually make a huff about it, while those content with it do not, making it look like there are far more people upset than happy.

Stop expecting a lite, because it could well be a 3DSXL.
Nobody knows what they'll gonna call it. Lite it's just my temporary name for the next system. Whatever it's called, it will eventually come out, like DS lite and DSi did. Nintendo will most likely release it at the end of 2012 or spring 2013. It's just so many complaints about the current 3DS that they will release the revamped version sooner than later ;)

Get a 3DS.
A 3DS "lite" really wouldn't add much, anyway. Except maybe actually integrate the damn second thumbstick like it should have always had.
It'll be years before that.

The DSi is useless. I have one. It's nice, but it was the same as my DSl, really. It just cost more.
