Hi everyone, basically i've just bought a PSP 3000 as i sold mine years ago, i have followed the great tutorial of putting on 6.39 CFW which worked excellent but i'm now stuck with an issue. I have created a folder called ISO in G:\PSP\ i have then put my .iso game into that ISO folder. I disconnect from PC and then goto Game>Memory Stick on my PSP but i cannot see the game in the list the only files i can see is a game i downloaded which was an official firmware game, and the PRO Fast Recovery and PRO UPDATE files. I'm really confused and i have followed steps correctly. The .iso seems to be from a legit source i would download most my stuff from.

Please if anyone can help i'd much appriciate it!

Thanks.

Once you've run the PROUPDATE to install the PRO files, you don't need that any longer, but what you DO need is to run the Fast Recovery after every full power off. It sounds like you're not in CFW mode...what does your firmware read as in system information (settings menu). I'd wager you've not enabled PRO yet and are trying on OFW so your ISO's won't show up.

I ran PROUPDATE, it installed CFW and then went back to PSP menu, my software says: 6.39 PRO-B9. I scroll across to Game, Memory stick and then it isn't in the list it only says Age of Zombies (Official Firmware game) PRO Fast Recovery and PROUPDATE file. But (NOT) my .iso game i put on through PC

MKV support?! Awesome! That's what I use mostly with Handbrake anyway. Glad you share that tip! I was just converting to MP4

MP_ROOT was used for quite old psp firmwares (something like 1.xx or 2.xx), but isn't used on recent firmwares. Put your videos in
Code:
[drive letter]:\PSP\VIDEO
You can also make a folder (and name it whatever you want) within VIDEO to categorize.

There are quite a few specifications (source):
As of firmware update version 3.30, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile video files of the following sizes can be played: 720×480, 352×480, and 480×272.

Although there are quite a few more restrictions...
You can alternatively try PMPlayer Advance. Since you're already hacked, you shouldn't have problems using this homebrew. Make a folder in PSP\GAME (name the folder whatever you want) and place all of the files within the download [here] into that folder. PPA should appear under GAME > Memory Stick on the XMB.

The container format (AVI/MPG/MP4/MOV) is only part of the video's type.

  • Container
    • Video Codec
      • Resolution
      • FPS
      • Bitrate
    • Audio Codec
      • Channels
      • Sampling Frequency
      • Bitrate

If any of those parts is "out of bounds" for a specific player, then the video file won't play on the player (or will play with a lot of issues if you try to use it in a video editor), even if it's of the correct container type. When you use a converter for a specific platform (such as for the PSP or DS or ipod) or to a specific format, it doesn't convert just the container, it formats every part of the video to certain specifications so it'll play properly, which is partially why it takes so long to convert.
