I have my Wii modded for some time now. I am running 3.2U firmware & have been able to play back ups just fine. I am not wanting to switch to using the USB Loader from my External HDD.

I have the HDD partitioned for FAT32 & the folders: apps, usb loader & wfbs on the drive that I got from ModMii. I have the Configurable USB loader channel installed on my Wii, but it is not loading to the drive. Just resets back to the system menu. I do believe it is not forwarding & I misses something.

Any assistance or tips would be great, thanks!!

Sounds like you have a forwarder channel, and the boot.dol for cfg in a place the forwarder isn't pointing to.
Forwarder channels are basically just shortcuts, go back to where you got the channel and it should tell you the path that the forwarder points to.

If that fails, get a newer more upto date forwarder channel.

I checked the HDD & it seems the path is already there: apps/usbloader_cfg/boot.dol

I am thinking that this links back to a different loader though.

I'm about to just update to 4.3 & re-hack.

Maybe he just miss IOS58 ?
If you installed/updated the channel it might be the problem.

Recent channels are made based on IOS58 to enable internal hardware access.
IOS58 is distributed with system menu v4.2, if you never installed it manually then you don't have it.

Try installing IOS58 only first before updating your Wii to 4.3 (update and Rehack should not be needed. I'm still on 3.2 too).

IOS58 is for USB2.0 without a cIOS, it's not related to AHBPROT. It came with some older 4.2 (or maybe 4.1, IDK) disc updates, but wasn't available online until 4.3 came out.

Installed IOS58 & I am able to get the drive to load, but will not play a game. I am getting:

Error: cIOS248rev18, cIOS222v4, cIOS223v4, cIOS224v5 or higher required.

Now I know what I need. ......and the search is on...lol.

Thanks!!

I see cIOS249(37)v21, but there are 7 different ones.

cIOS249 - 37, 38, 53, 55, 56, 57 & 58 all v21. I am thinking that they are older to newer versions??

249 is the slot its installed to and the other number is the base it uses (ios its based on).

for example on my wii i have,

cIOS247[37]-d2x-v7-final
cIOS248[38]-d2x-v7-final
cIOS249[56]-d2x-v7-final

also make sure you are getting the d2x cios's.

This is the setup you want:
202[60]v5.1 rodries mod
222[38]v4
223[38+37]v4
224[57]v5.1 rodries mod
249[56] d2x v7
250[57] d2x v7

You can download all the wads from ModMii.

Installed cIOS249 that you mentioned, game starts. I get the Wii remote screen & then the Wii screen letting me know that I need the zapper controller & then a black screen with the word loading......in the bottom right corner. Going to try a different game.

The whole point of having multiple IOS's is so you can switch to another if one doesn't work. Were you playing a CoD game? If so, you should try 250.

I installed all the other cIOS's listed & I am getting the same thing.

This time I tried Call of Duty MW3.

Maybe I should have mentioned it, but I am using ISOs & not WBFS files.

Ok. Got them to work. I had to go to each game & switch which cios to use.
249 should work for almost every game. There are just a few out there (Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 for example) that will need to use another cIOS. You probably won't need the others (202 is good for MPlayer CE though since it offers great compatibility and speed for playing movies on a HDD), but there is no harm in having them.

I never mentioned HABPROT in my reply.

He said launching the forwarder channel reboot back to system menu, it's a symptom of missing required IOS.
Often, the forwarder channels are based on IOS58 (like the one for USBloaderGX), that's why I suggested to install this missing IOS, nothing to do with AHBPROT.

Well, ok, I said internal hardware access, which is unlocked with HABPROT flags. My bad :P
But this IOS is also used as main IOS for forwarders, they don't always require nand or USB access.

I only thought about the rebooting problem if the IOS was missing, but it seems it wasn't the problem here. He was only missing newer cIOS.
