Media Create reports today that PlayStation Vita's twenty launch titles combined for 300,000 unit sales in the system's first week of release (covering, in Vita's case, just the 17th and 18th).
The system sold around 325,000 units. This gives it an attach rate (number of games purchased per system) of 0.92. While this is lower than the 0.95 first week attach rate of the 3DS and the 1.06 first week attach rate of PSP, Media Create notes that the Vita has a download sales environment in place, and taking this into account it's likely that the actual attach rate is close to the other platforms.
Media Create shared its full top 50 for the week of the Vita's launch, allowing us to see where more Vita games placed. Here's where all the Vita games that made it into the top 50 ranked for the week:
  • 07. Hot Shots Golf 6: 61,412
  • 08. Uncharted Golden Abyss: 48,224
  • 18. Dynasty Warriors Next: 29,181
  • 19. Lord of Apocalypse: 28,742
  • 22. Disgaea 3 Return
  • 28. Ridge Racer
  • 30. Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru
  • 43. Dream Club Zero Portable
  • 44. Katamari Damacy Novita
  • 50. Shinobido 2
While Media Create does not share actual figures below the 20 mark, as an upper marker, you can use number 20's 28,406 units. As a lower marker, Media Create said that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII-2, which placed 48, sold 10,000 units.

Let me tell you when golf is you highest selling launch game, your lineup sucks. This should have been released in January or better yet have a Feburary worldwide release especially when Tales of Innocence R would have been a launch title if that happened and the DL version of the PSP game Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave would be near released, it would have sold way more consoles and more games.

Meaning it could quite also exceed the other platforms...and i take it you're not familiar with the Hot Shot's series as they're renowned as both addictive and fun games. If any of those games was going to take the lead in sales it's logical that it'd be that one in Japan.

Considering there were 24 games or so available at launch, it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest software sales were spread about. Also Uncharted's sales are pretty good considering how it's a western shooter.

Let me tell you if you don't like Pangya or Hot Shots Golf (two of the biggest golf games for PSP), you suck.

Never played either.

Well after shelling out for the console AND memory cards did many have enough for a game too?

Good point

Also there's FF XIII-2 to blame as well even though it sold a little over half the copies of it's predecessors.

> Mario Golf

Only the name matters in that case, Mario sells period with very few exceptions (The old typing games and Educational crap on the NES/SNES)

Mario Goldf is Nintendo's equivalent of Hot Shots - it sold great and it was a generally great game. If you haven't played Hot Shots or don't have the first idea of how good the game is then perhaps you shouldn't judge it at all.

You know what's laughable....Vita attach rate was 0.94 and the 3DS was 0.95. If this is classed as a failure then the 3DS did just as badly.

The 3DS was called a failure back then because of that too.

Aren't the games also $50+?
actually, they retail for more than that (most of the titles range in price from 4980-6090, which translates to about $64 to $78)
ridge racer is the only cheap title (retailing at 3980 ($51), because it is set up more like a a demo (only 5 cars and 3 tracks to start). all of the rest of the content is supposedly DLC so that the consumer can pick and choose what they want

If that's how expensive the Vita games are going to be here, I most likely won't be buying it. Oh, I know that things are more expensive in Japan, but if the prices are going to be about what a console game costs, I'm going to skip the Vita.

If Vita development costs are going to be around console costs than it's going to be around console prices. And price isn't going to be a problem unless you happen to be one those people who buys all of his games at launch at full RRP. Just wait a few months or so and th price will drop, I've just picked SR3 and Arkham City for less than £40 GBP combined.

The publishers are likely to be testing the new market. They want to see how much they can milk their cows without the cows causing an uproar. The prices will eventually drop, there's nothing to worry about.
