No sleep mode, no multitask, no autosave when quit(like NES VC), and holding select+start button then launch it, screen size will not scale up(like launch NDS games). So GBA VC is not actually a VC(Emulator+ROM)? Maybe it is just a GBA Loader and ROM?

It's definitely different than the GB/GBC VC's. But holding Start/Select while booting up the GBA games DOES show their original resolution.

Actually I'm not sure. It doesn't do any of the above but when I push X it functions like B in one Wario game.

It's considered as VC by Nintendo, so it prolly is... They did say that they were still working on them, and they'd be very limited when they released them... Also they did promise more functions once the full versions were complete.

What do you think a VC is if not a ROM and emulator? Just because this emulator has less features, doesn't mean it's not an emulator. On the Wii, for consoles that have native save features (e.g. N64) there is no "suspend" feature when you quit. They are still VC games.

Considering how little power is consumed when playing these games, I'd say they are running with very little emulation if any. Information about the ARM11 CPUs says that they can run ARM7/ARM9 code natively. If anything, it's all under virtualization, the same department as when running DS games.

Well even so, Nintendo have never officially said that VC games are emulated AFAIK. In other words, these particular VC games may be done in a different manner to others, but that doesn't prevent them being VC games, or have any relevance whatsoever.

Exactly. It is the same as the PSP running PS1 games which does not use emulation either. That is why the PSP vita can't handle PS1 games, weird things happen when you try to run a (software) virtualizer under an emulator (i.e. run virtualbox inside of qemu) because software virtualizers use a bunch of dirty tricks to trap incompatible instructions (those tricks are not necessary with hardware virtualization support but the PSP and 3DS don't have that).

Virtual Console and Emulation are the same thing. It's running a game on a system that is not intended to directly support it.

Guys, it's been found that (most?) virtual console things for the Wii ARE emulation.

Literally, people can even swap out the ROMs.

yeah like for example nes football with 4 players can be replaced with nightmare on elm street.

Yup, Mario Golf has been used as the basis for several "injected" VC games
Hmmm,....I smell Home brew. Any how, i would find it funny, if we do hack the 3DS and get to see it's software code, and it would the code for the DSTWO emu or something like it. :P

Actually, they did not. They said that about the NES games, but said that there was no plan on releasing GBA games to the rest of the people, and that they were likely to not be updated.

And, OF COURSE it uses a rom. Did you think they would re-compile and change the code to adapt it to the 3DS hardware ?

Obviously too, these roms are encrypted. If it was easy to inject another rom, it would already be possible. I don't think it will happen anytime soon...

Definitely not. DSTWO has a MIPS processor. An emulator written for it would not work on the ARM processor in the 3DS without major modification, at which point it becomes pointless. (Is the DSTWO GBA emulator even open source? if not, it'd be ridiculously hard.)
