Ok, so after wiring the wii up to the car as many of you saw in the video i posted about a month ago, (see bottom of post i'll put it there again for those that never saw XD) AND making an arcade machine out of it (will also post that haha)

I began to play around again, deciding to paint it to match the interior of the car :) the theme is red and black, it has darkwii red theme installed so i get red and black as the wii menu too. It's a very simple effect and easy to do, but i haven't seen anyone post something like this before on GBAtemp, so hopefully it's a first too!

so here are the pictures of the progress :)

these pictures were a tester for the whole thing as the wii remote didn't work properly to begin with and certainly didn't work after painting! hahaha:

The controllers were white before the paint, but you all know what white ones look like, plus i never got any pictures before i started :P on this particular remote, the buttons were sticking because i had no patience, so when i put it back together the paint was not completely dry... when the paint dried the buttons were jammed :P but, learning from mistakes and trying again proved with patience it can be done well! haha

I ended up just masking off the disc drive and everything other part of the electronics as i couldnt be bothered to take them all off the shell haha but the impatience this time was fine, i waited for everything to dry overnight + a few more hours, put it back together and tested it. All works perfectly, the paint is superb, you cannot feel the black paint lines as there are a few layers of laquer to shiny it up!

As you'll see from the video i'm into modified cars, and the idea to make the paint like this was taken from a custom interior i had seen, though i'm not sure if they'd used this exact method. It was a fun little spare time thing to do :)

Here are the previous project videos i was talking about too for those of you that are interested...

Thanks to those that support some of these strange ideas that come up :)

P.S if a mod see's this can they either tell me how to re-format the post so that the pictures are side by side or could they do it for me :P unless it can't be done of course

hahaha! thanks guys, it always makes me laugh to hear these comments about the car XD that's been an ongoing project since july 2009, was completely standard when i bought it for just 400GBP :P (if you're out of europe you may have never heard of a vauxhall corsa B, just google it and see the transformation!

yeah the wii turned out just perfectly, it's so reflective you can see your face in it :P i've had alot of practice with the cars interior, which also always turned out wrong the first time due to my impatience :D i even did the exterior myself!

i did one of mine with some color-change paint and spent a day wetsanding it. it looks 10000x better afterwards.

I believe it'll be easier to find it under the name Opel Corsa + the year of manufacturing. Vauxhall = Opel.

Fuck your car mod is amazing! how did you get the screens in the sun deflectors?! :-O
The arcade machine isn't really my cup of tea as it takes up so much room, but nice try.
The paint job's pretty ace on your Wii, I see you went for a Pollock style ;)
Can i ask what type of paint you used? Car paint?
Also, did you customise your car yourself?

nah i never did wet sand it... i dont get the process, am i supposed to wetsand then laquer? or laquer then wetsand? i've always thought about it but never put the effort in to be bothered :D

also, if you click on the last picture, then previous picture on imageshack, you can see it has a pretty good reflection.

@puregamer,
thank you, always makes the effort worthwhile to hear this :)

@foxi4,
yeah i know in the rest of europe it's an OPEL, but it'll always be vauxhall to me :P it's a year 1994, it's pretty progressed in the electrical sense for a 17 year old car XD

the screens are off ebay, they came built into the sun deflectors and you just run all the cables yourself to whatever video input you're using :)

the arcade machine was just a time filler, i had a bit of spare time and money so just came up with the idea for no reason haha it does take up a bit of space though it was so cheap to build and we've had countless hours of fun re-living retro games in a more realistic way, it's gonna be great at christmas too with the family that grew up in that age of pacman/ space invaders :)

the paint is just standard spray paint i bought at a DIY shop, didnt do any prep, just straight to wii finish (after a clean of course haha) it's got a few layers of clear to make it smooth to the touch, you cant feel the black lines that way!

and yes, the car i did by myself, ALL of it, though with the ocassional help from a friend or 2 where big jobs were involved, like making the bumpers fit the car, it's hard to measure AND hold them up :P painting was difficult when i have nowhere for parts to dry, we sprayed everything on the car outside on sunny and windless days, always turned out perfect! i knew nothing about cars before i got this one, and now i know all i need to XD

Vauxhall is also known as "Opel" in other countries (such as sweden), and I wouldnt take an Opel even if you threw it at me haha, pile of shit cars :P

Anyway, instead of bashing your car Im going to comment on what the thread is about instead - the Wii!

Its not in my taste, but the paintjob looks reaaally good. What method did you use? Spraycan, brush, airbrush?

Oh, and the "no patience" part.... yea I kinda remember that  *touches paint to check if its dry* *giant fingerprint applied on the paint* *cry* *curse* *slitwrists* :P

I would DEFINETELY pay you to paint my 3DS. The car and wii are AMAZING!!!!.I would love to custom paint like you.
I'm too afraid to take my 3DS apart just yet :P it's so compact and there'd be so many electronics in there, plus the finish on the 3DS' is so perfect! i mean, it's a single colour and not fun, so it'd be nice to give it this sort of effect but it's still ok :)
that looks awesome man. great job.

i painted an xbox case wish it came out that good.
i've taken my old xbox apart to do some cleaning, but i think the hardest part to do would in painting it would be mask off the XBOX logo on the top of the shell, you'd want that to be another colour so it stands out, maybe i'll do it one day but for now i like my clear case :)

like i said i've had a bit of experience painting everything in that car, and initially everything was crap until i found a technique :)

The painting was very basic XD spray can with no special nozzles, just a regular vauxhall flame red paint (same as the car interior) and give it 2 thick layers of that, then wait a little bit for it to get sticky. Then use the wronge end of a paintbrush in the paint, and act like you're playing skyward sword :P swinging in a quick but smooth motion makes the lines when the paint is coming off the brush. but the first wiimote you see, i learned that doing it so fast just causes blotches to come off rather than lines :P if you have alot of paint on the end of the brush then thick lines come off, if not alot then thin lines :)

and i know exactly what you mean with the impatience... every single thing i've done i touched before it dried, except the wii, i gave myself one chance and left it, and it's the only thing that turned out right XD the first wii remote i tried to make dry faster under a heater... it bubbled like crazy, thats why the finish is terrible XD

Very simple : don't press enter after each /img tag

Place all your tags on the same line.
[img ]link to image1[ /img] [img ]link to image 2[ /img]

Doing that will place the pictures horizontally and automatically add a new line if the user's resolution is too low.

Wow, that's impressive seeing as you didn't know much about them beforehand. You should start a West Coast Customs, haha.
It's cool that you find the time to do these creative things, customisation just makes everything so much more fascinating. What's your next idea?
