The Last of Us In Development By Naughty Dog

The new upcoming PS3 exclusive, titled 'The Last of Us', has just been revealed to be in development by the Uncharted series developers Naughty Dog.
The game appears to be set in a post-apocalyptic world and is based on a young teenage girl and older man surviving against some of the mutated inhabitants.

it looks strongly inspired by Richard Matheson's i am legend and Cormac McCarthy's the road.

naughty dog can tell a story and they are great at giving us immersive characters. i just hope they don’t drop the ball like they did with uncharted 3, where its all multiplayer with a crappy little after thought of a story tacked on.

I lost my excitement at the whole "mutated inhabitants" bit. Up until that point I thought it may have been some new sci-fi type of thing, not the old "The earth is full of mutants, survive" thing we've seen in 500 video games and movies and books.

Not that I think this is going to suck...

Can't say much more than that without some gameplay though. Without an interesting story and some great gameplay, it'll just be another zombie game.

yea, the zombie thing is way past cliche at this point. the sad part about it is that popular mainstream culture thinks that zombies are still a "cool" concept.

i have always been a sucker for the apocalyptic theme when it is handled correctly. regardless of the zombie/mutant angle, i'll be looking forward to following the development of this game.... especially because i know its coming form naughty dog.

Anyway, I was really intrigued by this trailer. I think this game could be really interesting if they made it Survival Horror instead of just "Uncharted with Fungi Zombies and a teenage girl sidekick."

I'm not that tired of zombie's.
In the last 10 years I have maybe played maybe 4-5 zombie games.

It does remind me of "I AM LEGEND" and that movie with Viggo Mortensen ("The Road", btw that`s an amazing movie!!!) and the girl looks like that actress from Inception.

I don`t know about this. I hope they`ll have a unique twist on the whole Zombie-theme, since it is kinda worn-out...

Looks nice, Uncharted 1 (finished) and Uncharted 2 (just started with it) have so far been quite good games. Don't know about that zombie part, but otherwise looks quite realistic (not really that much future tech, but close to something that could actually happen). By that I mean that looking back at tsunami incidents during the last 10 years (ones that actually have quite good footage online), the damage is quite similar that was shown in the last seconds of the film, the outside world.

Er, Naughty Dog only has one franchise per console? Look at Crash and Jak & Daxter
