and they certainly don't want the console to have severly outdated visuals and lose 3rd party support because of that, hopefully they don't want go through that again too

Hmm dunno ... i am very very unstatisfied with Nintendo over the last few years, and the Wii U doesn't appeal to me even a bit atm.
I think this will be the first Nintendo Console ever (those that were available here) that i will not get ... think i will change to the next xbox or playstation -.-V they are not perfect as well but i have the feeling nintendo just doesn't get it that its more important to make their customers happy with good games and aceptable pricing instead of just worriing for their own profit.

I find that funny because the ps3 was $599 us dollars when it first launch.

That all Nintendo be doing is trying to get good games and acceptable price console.
They are set group of people that trying to make them do more than that. ie. better online, hd , pc-like hardware, etc

Some people basically want Nintendo sell PC-like hardware at a lost.

PC like hardware? Yeah, sure. I'd like you to link me to the Wii U specs and then I'll make up my mind. Or have someone else make it up for me.

Also, their "better online, hd, pc-like hardware" is basically just them coming late to the game and trying to catch up on features that their competition has had rooted into their consoles from the beginning.

And if I'm reading correctly, basically it was dumb selling the PS3 for $600 (which is agreed) but it'd be alright for Nintendo to sell for $600 despite the fact it basically is bringing the same things to the table that the PS3 did? Better hardware, better online, and HD?

The PS3 could also play Blurays right out of the box. There are quite a few people who invested in one for that as a big reason, the games and stuff are just extra.

Yeah, hmm, no-no.
I won't buy the Wii U unless it's 400€ or less, or they need some "must have" launch game, we need a new F-zero and Starfox!

I hope they give it to us for free. Or even pay us to take one.
This. I hate to pay for stuff.
This. I hate gaming.

Blu-ray and HD tech was, as far as I know, very expensive at that time. It was like at least about S$1,500 that time to enjoy a simple HD experience (over in SG).

If they dare price at $600 now, might as well jump off a cliff.

I spent full retail price on mine and I didn't really care because I had $200 store credit at gamestop and there's really nothing to buy there anyway. So I was out $50. All the 'legit' I traded in was just cluttering up my room. I kept the more rare titles to sell off on ebay. Comparatively, I made more in trade in at gamestop than I would have in cash on ebay too. I brought a list of all the prices and I think I cut 15% into it for ebay and paypal fees and accounted for shipping. Ebay is too much work for a big stack of games but also gamestop sucks d*ck too so either way was bad.

But anyway I'm happy with my $250 unit. it is nice :) I just picked up a fire red one for s&g and it came with $50 gc. But I would have bought it anyway.

I'm more concerned with sony and microsoft this time around. The 360 and the PS3 didn't deliver from the start and, as always, the PS3 was overhyped. At least the 360 demonstrates better graphics and capabilities than its predecessor but the PS3 meh. I still don't own one.

Now we are almost on to Vita. That would collect a lot of dust too. I am more keen on Nintendo products these days. if I need good graphics I don't want to be tethered and bound to some agreements and payment to a console manufacturer. PC offers multi player at the cost of the game and then you just keep playing it for free which is much better.

You missed the point. He's saying people want Nintendo to sell PC level hardware, and they want them to sell it at a loss. Which is a sentiment I hear echoed around here from time to time, that Nintendo should ditch all it's gimmicks and play exactly the same game that Sony/Microsoft do.

hopefully a MSRP of $299 USD and if the wii is any indication then it'll most likely come with a game.
this would be nice and also considering it's BC with wii games you can play them on it, assuming you own some original games.

I would guess around 300-400$
Will probably be a game with it similar to wii sport.
The new xbox will probably cost around 500$ and the new Playstation 550$

Either it means that the price will be reasonably cheap, or that they'll have a better launch for it.

Either way, both outcomes are awesome. I hope the price range will be around $249.99 = $349.99, but then again, the 3DS was originally $249.99

Remember Nintendo started the console race last time. They aren't late to the game, they're behind the game. I just hope there isn't a replay this time.
