Famitsu’s awarded it’s eighteenth perfect score only one week after its previous – something it’s never done prior. Final Fantasy XIII-2 scored 10s across the board in Famitu’s Cross Review section this week.
To compare, Final Fantasy XIII scored 39/40.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 also fared well with Dengeki PlayStation, which awarded the game an S (it’s top score following A+) in this week’s Buyer’s Guide.

Here’s this week’s full list of scores. We’ll update the list as new scores come in:
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3, 360) – 10/10/10/10
  • Monster Hunter Tri G (3DS) – 10/10/9/9
  • New Kamaitachi no Yoru: The Eleventh Suspect (PS3, PSV) – 9/9/9/10
  • Lord of Apocalypse (PSV, PSP) – 9/9/8/8

Plus a new trailer was released today from Square Enix: titled "Environments"

Goli who is no longer with us translated some of the comments
It takes about 40 hours to beat but with all the yarikomi elements, it takes 100+.Comments from reviewer “De”: No more straight paths, little hand holding, you get drawn into the game from the start, story is easy to understand, there’s DLC, lots of content, lots of monsters, the party always being Noel, Serah + monsters will make opinions split, battles require a high degree of strategy but “light users” can always change to easy mode.
Comments from reviewer Ran: The game lives up to XIII, order in which you visit certain places changes the story, multiple endings and yarikomi elements in abundance, the game has a different “feel” than that of XIII, after clearing areas you can go back to them and see new developments if you do them again, levelling up monsters is fun.
Comments from reviewer “Mo”: The difference between CG and normal gameplay scenes isn’t that high since the game is so pretty, battles require strategy and are fun, sidequest and conversation choices are plenty, multiple endings made him/her want to play again, sudden changes in the game’s time periods make it all seem fresh, looking for items is fun, you can move around in certain event scenes, the game’s music is impressive.
Comments from reviewer “Bu”: Changing around paradigms and monster make the battles fun, collecting monsters, merging them is fun, lots of mini games and yarikomi elements, many of XIII’s flaws are now gone, you get hooked to the story from the beginning; the reviewer says it makes you worry about the characters’ future, for people who have trouble understanding the game’s storyline there are some “tips” of some kind that can help, the game still has that crunching feeling in the battles from XIII.
Bottom line and whether you should buy it or not:
De: XIII-2 is much more accessible, even RPG newbies can play.
Ran: The user’s voice has been heard. The story and all those things from XIII are included in the game
Mo: High degree of freedom, lots of monsters and yarikomi elements.
Bu: You should all buy XIII-2 but also BBCSEX (BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend).

Lol, he don't have to say that, it's square enix, of course japan people gonna buy it.
I don't like the battle gameplay but it's still better than FFXIII(well it wasn't hard to do better than this one).

In addition Famitsu as gaming journalists have a tendency to be shit.
That.

While I'd love to have a FF game that didn't make me want to vomit (its been too long since FF10-2, Revenant Wings was nice enough though its more of a spin off) I just have no respect for Famitsu at all this century so their "perfect" scores are meaningless.

I hope for the best, at least it wont be as cringeworthy as Kingdom Hearts.

Famitsu a joke? Since when did that became a reality? No it just Final Fantasy getting a review about how awesome it is without pointing the glaring generic storyline that it has! Also Famitsu's method of a perfect score is RPG, First-party games, and anything else that's easy to score without any criticism.
