Hacking Wii bricked? Stuck on Health and Safety screen...

Hey guys, my Wii just started up and I was directed here to help solve my problem.

A little background: My Wii is hardmodded with a Wiikey (it's a pretty old console) and has been working fine. The last game I played was Twilight Princess (burned) about a month or so ago, maybe a little bit longer. It has sit since I finished it. A few days ago I went to play Madden '09 (also burned) and it hung on the Health and Safety screen and wouldn't give me the prompt to hit A to proceed. I did a little bit of research and so far I've tried the following:

- unplugging the mains for 15+ minutes
- resyncing the Wiimote and Wii console
- Holding + and - and press A at the Health and Safety screen doesn't bring up maintenance mode
- Holding + and - while booting does nothing
- Holding Reset while booting does nothing
- Retail SSB:Brawl doesn't load from boot or Health screen (to do a Smashstack?)

I was told this may be a banner brick, but I am 99% sure I have never run homebrew or WADs on this Wii.

Some additional information about the Wii:

- Wiikey is 1.9s I'm pretty sure
- Fairly confident I never ran HBC or anything that would run bad wads
- I had no screen come up saying the system files were corrupted
- I think the newest game I've played was Wario Land: Shake It (Which came out after Madden '09), so I'm not sure what firmware that would put me at


I hope there is something that can be done to rescue this, but as I haven't softmodded it or ran any wad's, I'm pretty sure I don't have a NAND backup :/

Or maybe Your madden 09 was pal/europe version?

I'm not sure what your first line means... I've had it modded and such for over 4 years without a hitch.

It's possible that the Madden 09 was PAL as I never played it before...

does it go to the system menu if you remove the game? then you can install HBC and priiloader and enable region free hacks (since your wii is "4 years old"

I don't see anything that goes under the category of the remote, but did you check the batteries? The batteries in the controller being dead can be easily forgotten. And, I'm not totally sure about it, but the Wii has a watch battery in it and it may be dead too.

Neither affects the boot of the Wii.
Even without controller you get the "press A" text, which he doesnt.

Try to patch the netflix disc to autoboot, then load it from RM via savemiifrii. When you do this, you did to have no network on the wii, so if you have network unplug your router. When the disc loads it will tell you that you need network, then it will take you to the system settings. From the system settings try to install HBC via bannerbomb version 1.

It is possible that your system settings also will not work, if the wii crashes while loading the system settings use smash stack pal instead. If your on 4.1 or less you can just patch the ssbb-pal disc to USA region and patch to autoboot, then it will load from RM via savemiifrii. If you are 4.2+ you will need to load ssbb-pal via discswap-pwns or mario kart-pwns, have a look at the error 003 fix guide for details on that.

Once you get HBC installed softmod the wii following my guide or modmii, get priiloader installed. Possibly that will fix your wii. If your wii is still broken do a system format from the wii settings or via the pink fish disc loaded via neogamma.

Hopefully that will help.

Also if your 3.2 or less, you can load a recovery disc, say a MMM disc (Multi mod manager), then use that to do the softmod.

Nope, replaced the batteries and the lights at the bottom of the Wiimote do sync

Where can I get the Netflix iso and how do I patch it for autoboot? Also, what does loading from RM mean?

From there I think I can google my way through those instructions...

Game must be kind and load another game for you- Tested with Castlevania, I am sure there are others
Super Smash Bros. Brawl-PAL, 1:1 DVD9 iso

Most games will require you to load to the title screen, press [HOME] on the wiimote, swap discs, press [HOME] and the wiimote and go back to the title screen. Now listen to the wii drive, as soon as the drive clicks to spin up the disc, press [HOME], then click restart on the wii screen. The timing will be different for every game. Some games you can just restart, others need the spin up first.

Games that work-
Castlevania Judgment -with spin up
Dora- Crystal Kingdom -with spin up
BOOM Blocks Bash Party -with spin up
Carnival Games - no spin up
Family Party- 30 great games- with spin up.

I am on the way and about to set out to do this, but what should I put for my version software for Modmii if I don't know it right now? Or will I be able to see it when I'm doing the bannerbomb?

I have a japanese wii with this same brick and can´t fix it yet. Netflix method doesn´t work with this but SSBB PAL can be your salvation.

New development.. I finally got my Gamecube controller open so I could Savemiifrii. I got to the RM (I think, the RM is just the screen that says the firmware version at the bottom right, right?) Ps it is 3.2U.

It then fades to black as it appears to be reading the disc, but then nothing. It occasionally flashes between a deep black and a lighter black, as if something may appear, but nothing. I tried with the wii horizontal and vertical, and reburnt the Netflix disc again as well. I unplugged my router as well.

You said to try a PAL smashstack if it failed to load the settings after prompting about needing an internet connection, but it didn't even get that far.

Any ideas?
